Crafts for Toddlers

Updated on 26th November 2019 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

Over the last few years I’ve shared a lot of crafts for toddlers and you guys have always LOVED them so I thought it was time to put them all together in one place to make them easier for you to find in a hurry. There’s loads of ideas with painting, sticking and gluing plus I’ll be adding ideas for each of the seasons and holidays too. Many of these crafts for one and two year olds are ones that I’ve done with my own toddlers (you might spot a few pictures of them taking part!) and all of them are fun and easy, perfect for young kids to make and to help inspire you to encourage their creativity.

Benefits of Crafts for Toddlers

Do you know why it’s so good to do some creative activities with your toddler? I love this article on the importance of art and craft for children from the BBC  which discusses how crafts can help develop brain development, build confidence and create a shared learning experience.

My Favourite Toddler Craft Materials

Over the years we’ve got through a LOT of craft materials! My favourite pens for toddlers are the Crayola ones (their pip squeak pens are great for little hands) as to date I’ve always managed to wash them out of and off of everything, I love their paints too. My first child was really good for only drawing and painting on paper but my second child? Well I’ve cleaned stuff off walls and the underneath of my dining chairs amongst others and I have many pictures of my kids looking like Smurfs or The Hulk so we’ve had a lot of practice at the cleaning bit. You can never have too many baby wipes!! We always keep white paper or card to hand – card holds large amounts of paint better and you can’t go wrong with big paintbrushes, crayons and of course lots of stickers.
