Easy March Crafts for Toddlers and Preschoolers
As a mom myself I think that spring is probably my favourite time of year for inspiring kids to do something creative. There’s so much happening in the natural world and celebrations like St Patricks Day mean that there’s a lot to get excited about.
The beginning of the season means that there’s load of fun and creative crafts that toddlers and preschoolers can make in March and many of the ones that I’m sharing today are ones that I’ve made myself with my own children.
You’ll find ideas for four of my favorite and most popular March topics: spring, weather, St Patricks Day and farm animals. I’ve also shared some more ideas for topics that work well for this month at home or in preschools or kindergartens.
As always if you are trying out a craft with young children then you will need to supervise them throughout the duration especially if they are using small parts or scissors.

Spring Tree Crafts

We’ve shared loads of ideas including tissue paper, pom pom painting and even using Lego or Duplo.

Flower Sticky Wall
This may be a little more of an activity than a craft but this flower themed sticky wall was something that my daughter really enjoyed and was a fun way for her to get hands on with natural materials.

Butterfly Nature Craft
Get outside to look for supplies for this fun butterfly craft inspired by the change in seasons.

Weather Crafts for Toddlers and Preschoolers
In our experience March tends to show us every form of weather with sun, rain and sometimes even snow. Make the most of this transition month by trying out some easy weather crafts.
Thundercloud Craft
Paint splat crafts are a classic activity for preschools and kindergartens and we’ve used this fun process art here to create a simple thundercloud craft.

Paper Plate Sun
This craft is one of my all time favourites on this site as it’s the first one that my daughter aged 16 months got involved in and it was a collaborative art project between her and my son.
Simple paper plate crafts are great for younger kids as not only are paper plates cheap to buy and easy to source but they can hold a lot of paint without getting over saturated, a useful point when getting creative with little ones.
Paper Plate Snowflakes
This craft is another great way to use up any spare paper plates that you have as well as giving you an excuse to raid your craft supplies.
You’ll need an adult to cut the paper plates but kids are fine to do the decorating using paint, pom poms, stickers and whatever other materials you can find.

Rain Craft
The combination of cotton ball clouds and finger painted rain make this rain craft a great choice for younger kids.
St Patrick’s Day Crafts for Toddlers and Preschoolers
St Patrick’s Day takes place on 17th March and is a great excuse to include rainbows, shamrocks and pots of gold in your activities.
Foil Painted Shamrock Craft
Painting with aluminium foil is a great activity for little hands as you can mold and shape the foil to create a stamp that’s the right size for them.
Here you can use it as a way of decorating our shamrock template.

Mosaic Shamrock Craft
Paper mosaics are a great way to support fine motor skills although whether your child creates a mosaic or just sprinkles paper squares onto their shamrock will depend very much on their age and abilities. Either way though this is a fun way for kids to join in with the celebrations.
In this post I’ve also shared some other ways to decorate your shamrock such as including using scrunched tissue paper or painting using a pom pom.
Puffy Paint Leprechaun Craft
Happy Toddler Playtime shares an adorable leprechaun craft for younger kids to create using puffy paint.
Pot of Gold Craft
Grab cardstock, markers and yellow paint to make this simple pot of gold craft from Our Kid Things. Using thumbprints make this a great keepsake craft too!
Farm Animal Crafts for Toddlers and Preschoolers
Farm animals are a popular topic during March and during spring in general, baby animals appeal to toddlers and preschoolers and it’s a great topic if you’re thinking of taking a trip to a farm.
Cotton Ball Lamb
Use our free download and make this cute lamb craft that’s perfect as a sensory activity too.

Easy Chick Craft
Our simple chick craft is one of my most favorite crafts that we’ve ever shared and as I made it with my daughter I know that it’s tried and tested with younger kids and a lot of fun to make together.

Pig Craft for Toddlers and Preschoolers
This easy pig craft is made using pink shredded paper and a paper plate.
Pom Pom Sheep Craft
Use pom poms to paint this easy sheep craft.
