Somehow the impossible has happened, this is my son’s last ever week at playgroup. I’m not quite sure how this can be the case since I’m fairly certain he only started a few weeks back but come September he’ll be starting school. That’s particularly crazy as it’s just taken me three attempts to write school, I’m not sure I’m ready for this! Like most mums I’m not super panicking about him starting, however I do want to make the transition as easy and enjoyable for him as possible, so with that in mind I asked the super wise ladies over on the Crafts on Sea Facebook page for their advice on preparing your child for starting school as well as the advice of some of my blogging friends and there’s a few things we’re doing thrown in here too!

How To Stop Your Kid Biting Without Biting Them Back
Houston, we have a problem. My youngest, my sweet, cute little 20 month old baby girl, well, she’s a biter. And it hurts. A lot. I looked for advice on how to stop your kid biting in one of my local Facebook groups for mums and almost every single person said the same thing – bite them back. Here’s the thing though, I’m not going to bite a baby. I mean she looks good enough to eat, but that’s just a saying, right? So I was kinda a bit stuffed for advice. Then I remembered I already had a marvelous Facebook group to hand who might be able to help, the lovely folks over at the Crafts on Sea page and hurray they saved the day!
All of these hints on stopping your kid biting are theirs, tried and tested by them. Obviously read them and then be sensible about what works for you, moving a head in might be great if you’re getting bitten while breastfeeding but it’s less likely to be great with a toddler, likewise telling kids no might be better advice for older children that bite than it is for a one week old. Let me know what works for you and I’ll report back on what’s working with my cute and cuddly little vampire!

How I Taught My Son Letter Recognition By Putting A Bucket On My Head
I know, kissing all dignity goodbye, right?! I did try for quite a while to think of a more SEO friendly title for this post, maybe ‘one quick trick for teaching the alphabet’ or ‘how to teach your child letter recognition’. But you know what? I have two kids and the small amount of dignity that I managed to keep throughout my teenage years pretty much disappeared the day I first fell pregnant, so this is how I taught my son letter recognition by putting a bucket on my head because, hey, that’s how I did it and because I’m fairly certain you’ll want to know about it too!
The Ultimate Summer Bucket List for Preschoolers
If you’re anything like me you’ll be looking forward to the summer holidays with a sense of excitement and mild fear. Hurray you get to spend more time with your kids but, uh-oh! How on earth are you going to cope all summer now the Big Kids are everywhere and oh my days how are you going to afford it too?! I love looking through summer bucket lists and bored jar lists for ideas on what to do with my kids, but as they’re often aimed at older kids they’re not always that great for me, I can’t tell my preschooler to go read a book or write messages in invisible ink! With that in mind I thought I’d share some ideas for a summer bucket list for preschoolers, this isn’t possibly the one my kids would write (that’d include EuroDisney, Alton Towers and Legoland) but it does have loads of achievable but fun things to do with your kids. I’m sure there’s lots of them that you could do with older kids too and do feel free to leave your own ideas at the end – us parents have got to help each other!
Camping with a baby – 10 tips you need to know
Before I had kids I loved to go camping, although admittedly I didn’t do loads of it. The thought of camping with a baby though? Well it didn’t seem possible at first – how would we all cope?! I’ve always wanted to take my kids camping, I love getting them out in the countryside and I knew they would get a kick out of spending the night outdoors. Last summer my husband and I decided that enough was enough and it was time to introduce our three year old son to the joys of camping. There was only one small issue though, his still rather small baby sister. Could we cope with camping with a baby?! So, we did what seemed sensible at the time, bought a tent and decided to just give it a try before we spent another year putting things on hold.
