10 Baby Led Weaning Dinner Ideas Your Whole Family Will Love

Updated on 15th December 2023 by Kate Williams | 4 Comments

I really enjoyed being able to share family meals when my daughter started weaning. She refused to touch anything on a spoon so baby led weaning was the only option!

Sometimes though I struggled with baby led weaning dinner ideas that the whole family would eat. They still had to be something my 4 year old might like and as my daughter didn’t have teeth until she was nearly one sometimes I’d get a bit stuck for things she could actually eat rather than just suck.

These ideas are all meals that we ate as a family while doing baby led weaning and which both of my kids would eat some of!

What is Baby Led Weaning and Is It Right For Your Family?

Updated on 17th November 2023 by Kate Williams | 1 Comment

Baby Led Weaning is loved by many parents as the easy way to feed their kids, other parents find it tricky to think of ideas for baby led weaning meals that the whole family can eat. As the mum of two kids I feel like I’ve tried every approach to finding out the best way to encourage my kids to eat healthy food. My eldest (my son) tried homemade purees, shop bought purees, finger foods and a bit of baby led weaning. He wasn’t too fussed by anything. My daughter refused to go anywhere near a spoon and so baby led weaning was the only option. From my experience there are pros and cons to both ways of feeding your babies so I thought I would put together what I learnt on my baby feeding journey!

Mothers Day at Brewers Fayre Southend

18th March 2015 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

When I was asked if we’d like to review the new Brewers Fayre in Southend this Mothers Day I jumped at the chance. Of course in theory my kids spend the whole of Mothers Day prepping a lovely meal for me but actually at one and four the best I’m going to get is a biscuit. This way I could relax while someone else shopped, cooked and cleaned up afterwards. The Brewers Fayre in Southend has only been open a few weeks and this was our first visit to it, here’s what we thought!

How To Save Money When You Become A SAHM

8th March 2015 by Kate Williams | 7 Comments

Two years ago I was made redundant and while people spoke to me about how easy I’d find it to find another job, I knew that wasn’t the case, mainly because while they were talking I was trying not to throw up. Morning sickness. Yep, I pretty much got pregnant with my second child the same week I got given my notice. Understandably I was *slightly* concerned about how we would afford for me to stay at home so both me and my husband really looked into how to save money on all our outgoings so that we wouldn’t get ourselves into any trouble financially. Two years later I view being made redundant as one of the best things to happen to me, we still live a fairly similar lifestyle but I no longer have to deal with my (delightful) ex-boss. And although I’ve labeled this as how to save money when you become a SAHM, obviously this applies for all the working parents too, we’ve all got bills to pay! Here’s how we did it.

Join local Facebook groups

I’m in several groups for local mums and they’re great for selling stuff your kids have grown out of, buying kids stuff on the cheap and getting ideas for thrifty local days out.

Switch energy suppliers

It used to take about five weeks to switch energy suppliers but the average wait is now about 17 days meaning you could start saving money really quickly! Families can often save around £200 by switching, enough to cover a few weeks of food shopping if you’re trying to save money! Some fixed deals are £100 cheaper than they were last year and by using the sites recommended by OFGEM on their Be An Energy Shopper site you’ll be able to compare prices easily.
