What to take Glamping with Kids: 10 Essentials You Need

Updated on 16th December 2019 by Kate Williams | 7 Comments

Last weekend we stayed in a yurt at South Penquite Farm, we had an awesome time, even if it did rain a bit – it was the kind of break where that kind of thing doesn’t matter. I love glamping with kids, it’s such a fun way for them to enjoy the outdoors without me being under the pressure of having to deal with the tent or taking loads of gear with us. Glamping doesn’t always mean that everything you’ll need will be provided so Millets asked me if I would share my essential list of what to take glamping with kids as part of their #homefromhome campaign. I think we’ve pretty much got our glamping essentials nailed but I’d love to know what else you’d add!

Cornish Seal Sanctuary Review

Updated on 2nd December 2020 by Kate Williams | 4 Comments

This weekend we went spent a few days down on the south coast of Cornwall near Mullion, it’s a gorgeous area but one that I haven’t been to since we had kids so we thought it would be fun to go and see it again. Of course going somewhere in summer without kids is…ummm…slightly different to visiting somewhere late October with two small people in tow but that was fine as it gave us the excuse to go and visit places other than the beach. One of these was The Cornish Seal Sanctuary which is in Gweek, despite having had a look at their website I kind of presumed it would be a bit like the aquarium where we used to live in Southend – small, indoors but with slightly bigger tanks and of course like most things I presume I was totally wrong in this case, but thank not in a bad way.

How to Rock the Eden Project with Kids and Bell Tent Review

Updated on 4th October 2016 by Kate Williams | 5 Comments

This weekend we visited the Eden Project near St Austell. I’d booked it at the beginning of the summer and was really looking forward to it, then the holidays started and I started to dread it a little bit. It’s not that I don’t like the Eden Project, I went there with my husband pre-kids and had a great time, but living in Cornwall during the summer and having seen the traffic jam to the local beach reach the end of my road a mile away I was understandably a little concerned how busy it would be. We were also paying to stay in a bell tent overnight which lead me to wonder if we were basically paying rather a considerable amount of cash to be turned into human sardines with small kids to keep happy. Ouch.

We stayed at South Penquite Farms and now I want to live in a yurt

Updated on 4th October 2016 by Kate Williams | 6 Comments

Summer is a difficult time for holidays. It shouldn’t be, of course, but if you’ve got kids you’ll know that once the school holidays hit everything seems to cost at least 462 times more and is ridiculously crowded. As we’ve recently moved to Cornwall we’ve seen it a lot in our town, the shops suddenly all ran out of holiday essentials (toilet roll and cider) and when it rains (which of course because we’re still in the UK) the car park for soft play is quite unreal. We wanted to go away for a couple of days but we didn’t want to spend a grand or feel like a sardine so after a bit of hunting my husband found South Penquite Farm in Bodmin and now I’m wondering if I should be typing this up or trying to keep it a secret.
