Halloween is definitely a favorite time of year for a lot of kids but it doesn’t have to be just about dressing up and trick or treating.
When my kids were younger I started doing Halloween crafts with them as a way of putting even more fun into our day. Not that they needed more excitement on Halloween mind you but I guess I just liked to really ramp them up!
By the time they were ready to go out trick or treating we’d have a room filled with their Halloween arts and crafts. You’ll find a lot of them on this site and the pumpkin suncatcher below was one of their favourites.
I think that ghosts are perfect for Halloween crafts because to my mind there’s no ‘right’ way to do them.
If you glue a cotton wool ball or piece of paper outside of the outline it doesn’t matter because that’s just another bit of their body materialising. At least that’s what I tell myself anyway!
Once you’ve decorated your ghosts why not hang them up? Use scissors to cut them out and then use twine to have them hanging from a window or doorway or if you make a few attach them together to make a ghost banner, this could be a fun decoration for a Halloween party too.

Ghost Template Craft Ideas
Pom Pom Painting – Grab the white paint and use this template with our easy ghost craft.
Tearing Paper – Tearing paper is great for fine motor skills and it’s a brilliant way to use up any scrap paper that you might have as well. Check out our torn paper ghost to see how we made one.
Resist Art – We used this ghost template to make a resist art ghost. It’s a great way to learn about using negative space in art but it’s also so easy to create that it’s a good one for toddlers and preschoolers too.
Cotton Ball Ghosts – Cover your ghost in glue and stick on some cotton balls for a fun puffy ghost craft.
Finger Painting– Print your template onto lightly colored paper or cardstock and then use fingerprint painting to color in your ghost.
Coloring – Use this template as coloring pages and grab your markers and crayons. You could make a colorful ghost or print it onto colored paper and try coloring it in white.
Paper Plate Ghost – I love this paper plate ghost craft that we made especially the star stickers that are used for the night sky.
Ghost Suncatcher – You could make ghost suncatcher using white tissue paper. We’ve made a pumpkin suncatcher before and I’ve added the video tutorial for it to this page so you can see how it would work (or click through the link for written instructions and materials.) Just print your ghost template out and then cut about a 2cm border around the edge to make the outside of your template before you fill it in.
