This October it’s time to design your own pumpkin with our fun cut and paste pumpkin craft that’s free to download.
I love Halloween with all the fun crafts and activities that you can do with kids and the opportunity to dress up for trick or treating, eat sweets and generally have loads of fun means that it’s a huge and super popular topic for kids too.
This easy paper craft is a great way for kids to practice their scissor skills without it seeming too much like an educational worksheet (my kids are more scared of those than they are of zombies) and you can pick from loads of different pumpkin eye’s and mouths to build your own pumpkin.

Cut and Paste Pumpkin Craft
I’m really into cut and paste crafts at the moment, they’re so fun to make and a great way to sneak in some scissor skills practice for your kids!
I think that pumpkins have to be the quintessential symbol of Halloween as so many of us carve or decorate one to put on our porch and I love the creativity that is part of that too with people creating so many different cool designs.
This cut and paste activity will help you to designs your own pumpkin whether you want to make something super scary or a cute pumpkin face (I think mine is kinda cute?!). With loads of features to choose from the decision is yours.
You can print as many copies of these pumpkin printables as you like so if you’d like to make this in a classroom to then go for it!
Pumpkin Craft Materials
- Pumpkin craft PDF printed onto white paper or cardstock
- Coloring materials – markers, coloring pencils or crayons
- Scissors
- Glue
Paper Pumpkin Craft
First of all you need to print all three pages of the PDF file onto white paper or cardstock.
Either is fine for printing on, cardstock is a little more durable but I’ve just used normal white printer paper for my jack-o-lantern and this was fine.
Next is coloring in. Again I pretty much always just go with suggesting with what you have available at home as being a mom myself it’s the same rules that I have to go by!
In this case I’ve used a green marker for the pumpkin’s stem and an orange crayon for the main body of the pumpkin as that was what we had available.
Once these are colored in you can cut the two pieces out.
If you have a toddler or a preschooler who is just learning about scissor skills then the pumpkin outline can be a good place to start as it’s not too complicated.
Choose the eye’s, nose and mouth that you would like to turn your pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern and cut these out too.
You can always cut a few different versions out so you can move them around on your pumpkin and decide which look is your favourite.
If you are making a pumpkin this year with your child then you could also use now to have a talk with them about your design – you could use our pumpkin features for tracing onto a real pumpkin if you liked and have this craft as your practice run for what looks good!
Finally glue your chosen features onto your pumpkin and it’s ready to display.
