So it would appear that on Kate’s Big List Of Parenting Things I Forgot To Do is teach scissor skills to my son. I know this to be true because this week I realised that we don’t seem to own any kids scissors, oops. Thankfully I know that scissor skills are something that he’s been doing at his playgroup anyway but what’s wrong with supporting that at home? These cute scissor skills snakes not only helped improve his use of scissors but we loved making them too and he’s been playing with them ever since we made them!

Do your kids like stickers? Mine are obsessed! I’m quite happy for them to play with them because they’re great for fine motor skills and because they’re a really quiet and calm activity too, but after a while I thought they might like something to do with them other than just stick them on a bit of paper. They’re are loads of ways that your kids can play and learn with stickers and most of them are pretty cheap ways to keep your kids busy too!

Sticky Wall Miffy Activity
Advert. I’ve really enjoyed being a Miffy Mum this year. Both my kids love Miffy anyway but it’s helped inspire a few ideas that I might not have thought of otherwise.
Keeping toddlers entertained can be tricky, especially before they can talk and tell you what they want to do. Of course, at nearly two years old my toddler has lots of ways of communicating with us, but her main messages seem to be ‘more crackers’ or ‘look at my shoes! I love my shoes!’ rather than ‘hey mummy, lets do some activities for toddlers to improve my fine motor skills that are also super cute too’. Thankfully on some occasions I manage to fill in the blanks for her so while we spent a morning alone I set up this sweet Miffy activity for her to do!

Torn Paper Apple Craft
So after we went on our trip to the orchard last week we got pretty busy with apple crafts! You might have already seen the apple shaker we made but we also made these paper plate apples. Rather than just get the paints out I thought it might be a good idea to try a torn paper apple craft instead, firstly because tearing paper is really good for fine motor skills, but also because I think it can get a bit boring always doing everything the same way. For me as well as the kids! I really loved the way my son chose to decorate his which I’ll share with you further down!

3 Fun Activities with Stones at the Beach
A couple of weeks ago we went on holiday to Lowestoft, the kids had a great time but oh my days did it rain! On the one afternoon the weather cheered up we decided to get ourselves immediately down to the beach. Buckets and spades were packed and down we went, met there of course by the tide being in and humongous waves. Oops! There was however about a meter and a half of sand to sit on, so we parked ourselves there and I quickly had to come up with some things that my kids could play. Thankfully sea crafts for kids have become a bit of a speciality here so I was able to quickly come up with these fun activities with stones keeping them busy and happy and saving our little trip down to the waters edge!
