This cute paper plate scarecrow craft is perfect for autumn or harvest crafts and our free template make creating your scarecrow even easier!
I’ve left the scarecrows face blank but of course this is the perfect opportunity for your child to add their creativity – what will their scarecrow look like? Younger kids will need adult help to cut out the scarecrow shape but there’s colouring, painting and sticking to create this cool autumn craft.

Scarecrow Craft
Scarecrow crafts are a classic make for autumn but of course the real ones are way too hard for kids (and probably most of us adults too). Keep things simple by making some scarecrow crafts at home instead!

How To Make Your Scarecrow Craft
Start by painting your paper plate. I’ve used green for the fields and blue for the sky but you can easily adapt this depending on your child’s age and what they would like to do, younger kids can just do plain green in the background for their field or you could add a sun or more details to the field if you would like, although do remember that much of this will be covered by your scarecrow – you don’t want your child’s amazing tractor picture covered up!
To add some texture to the field I’ve also added some yellow paints for the plants. This is of course optional but a nice way to try out a different technique. To do this I poured some yellow paint onto a reusable plate and then dipped a toothbrush in it before using this to dab onto the field area.
While you are waiting for the paint to dry print your scarecrow template onto white paper and colour it in. Kids can personalise their craft by drawing on a face for their scarecrow if they would like and choosing colours for their scarecrow.
Next cut the coloured in scarecrow out. The straw hands can be a bit tricky so unless you are doing this with older children this may be a part for adults to help with.
Finally once the paint on your paper plate is dry you can glue on your scarecrow and your craft is finished.
