Build A Scarecrow Printable
I think fall has to be my favorite season of the year, there’s so much to be inspired by and so many different topics that you can look at with your child.
Of course this fun scarecrow craft would fit perfectly into a scarecrow topic lesson plan but it’s also going to be ideal for farms and farmers, harvest, Thanksgiving and for making after reading some of our top fall-themed books – all with a scarecrow theme of course!
Scarecrow crafts are really popular and this free printable means that you can help your child build their own scarecrow easily without having to buy loads of craft materials.
As well as making at home it’s ideal for use in classrooms or preschools as you can print as many copies as you like, you can create a whole field full of cute scarecrows and they’d look fantastic displayed on a bulletin board too.
Our adorable scarecrow comes with lots of things that you can add to it – patches to glue onto their shirt or sleeves and a bird to keep them company – maybe they weren’t so great at scaring them after all! There’s also a hat to glue to the top of the head of your scarecrow and you can attach the little sunflower too.

Build A Scarecrow Craft Supplies
- Build a scarecrow PDF
- White cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue or double sided tape
- Coloring materials – markers, crayons or coloring pencils
- Optional – two sticks and string or twine
Build A Scarecrow Activity
Start by printing out the PDF onto white cardstock or thick white paper. If possible you will want to use this rather than printer paper as it will make it a bit more sturdy.
Color in all the sections of your scarecrow including the flower, bird and patches.
Using scissors cut out the different parts of the scarecrow and then glue the two parts of the wooden posts together.
If you like you could use real sticks or wooden doweling for your scarecrow, just remember to use some twine to knot the two sticks together or you can get a grown up to stick them together using a hot glue gun.
Next glue together the parts of your scarecrow, sticking their head onto their body and their hat onto their head.
Stick your scarecrow onto the the sticks and then add on the bird and the patches for your scarecrow’s clothes.
