Fox Craft
This little fox craft is easy peasy to make and it’s so cute too, I hope you’ll love it as much as I do!
We’ve had foxes in our backyard before and my kids are always intrigued by them.
Of course their normal habitat is generally in the woods but there are definitely a lot of urban foxes out there too meaning that they’re wildlife that a lot of kids will have seen.
I’m a big fan of using natural materials where I can in crafts, these leaves were picked up both outside my home and in the park.
Using real leaves also means that they’re a lot easier for kids to cut or tear than using fake ones. Plus leaves from your backyard are free, that’s got to be a good thing!
I’ve made this activity as a fox craft but using leaves as a decoration is one that would work well with lots of different animals too so if you fancy trying out something different then make sure you check out the other templates at the end of this post, all of which I think would look great colored in with some fall leaves too.
Free Fox Template
Of course you can draw a fox yourself but they can be a little tricky so if you want to make things easier for yourself why not grab our free printable fox template?
There are three different designs so you can choose your favorite one to craft with.
Using a template is also a great idea if you’re making this with a group of kids, either at home, preschool or in a classroom as it means you don’t have to draw the same thing again and again, just print as many copies of our download as you need.

How To Make A Fox Craft With Leaves
Start by printing out your fox template. I’ve chosen our printable that shows the fox’s full face but if you’d rather add that and the eyes and nose yourself then go with a different design.
If you are planning on using PVA glue or school glue for this craft then I’d recommend printing your design onto cardstock rather than printer paper.
This is because the paper can become quite saturated and heavy with both the glue and leaves and you don’t want to risk it tearing if possible.
I don’t recommend using a glue stick as these tend to not be able to stick leaves down that well.
The next step is to add your double sided tape. The reason why I tend to use this is that it sticks things down instantly, no waiting for glue to dry, no stressing that awkward shapes (which leaves obviously are) won’t stick.
The downside to it is that firstly it’s harder for kids to use themselves where as they can just slop glue on and secondly it really does stick everything down. If you change your mind once you’ve stuck it it’s too late! Go with whatever one suits you best.
Now you’re going to add your leaves. I did this in several different ways, sticking some leaves on completely, tearing some into roughly the shape I thought would fit and cutting others.
The my cutting for this was pretty basic, after all it’s supposed to be a kids craft, but leaves are pretty good fun to cut so it’s a great way to practice scissor skills too.
The only piece that I specifically tried to cut and look good was the fox’s nose. If you don’t fancy doing that you could tear a small piece of leaf and glue that on or maybe look for a small leaf to glue in place.

Why not try creating an owl? Our owl template would be another great choice, why not try adding some tree bark to this one?
