Free Fox Template
Foxes and woodland animals are a really popular topic for preschoolers and kindergarteners as well as in early years at school but they’re also a popular one to try at home. We used to have foxes in our garden and I think that definitely makes them more interesting for kids!
In this printable PDF pack you’ll find three different images to use. The first is a blank outline of a fox which would be perfect for crafts where you’ll be adding a lot of materials.
The second image is of the same fox but with it’s features added and the final picture is of the fox lying down and curled up.
As with all of our printables I’ve shared some simple instructions for craft ideas that you can use with these templates, you can use these for some inspiration or of course go with your own ideas.
Fox Craft Ideas
Coloring
Coloring is always a really popular activity with both kids and parents as it’s so easy to set up. All you need to do is choose your favorite fox picture and grab crayons, markers or coloring pencils and you’re ready to get started.
Torn Paper
Torn paper is great for using up any scrap paper that you have lying around and I love the textured look that it creates, it’s also a good activity for supporting fine motor skills. All you need to do is tear each piece to the size you want and glue it onto your template.
Leaves
We made a cute fox craft with leaves using this template. It’s a great way to practice tearing or scissor skills too.
Collage
Look around your home or classroom for orange, white or brown materials that you could use to create a collage to color in your fox picture.
Some items you might like to try are fake fur, cardstock, material, yarn, pasta, tissue paper, newspaper, baking paper, brown paper bags and dry leaves.
Spread glue over your fox and glue the materials onto using scissors to cut things to the right shape if you like.
Alternatives to Paintbrushes
Painting with kids is great fun but there are loads of alternatives you can find from using materials that lots of us have at home already and most of these will give a nice texture to your painting, a bit like the fox’s fur!
All you need to do is pour a little paint into a plate or tray and then dab your material in it before dabbing it onto your template to paint it.
Pom poms are a great option for this as is scrunched up aluminum foil or pieces of sponge. You could also do some finger painting!
