We love sharing free printables for Halloween and I’m super happy to share this 3D haunted house craft with you. I think it might be one of my favorite free downloads that we’ve done?
Halloween is such a great time for getting creative as between ghosts, pumpkins, mummies and vampires there’s loads to be inspired by and the thought of dressing up and going trick or treating for candy is certainly something that gets my kids looking forward to this time of year!

What You'll Find on This Page
3D Haunted House Template
Our haunted house template was so popular last year that we decided to up our game and create a 3D version of it that you can display at home and even turn into a little Halloween lantern with a LED light inside it.
If you’ve used our original template then you’ll notice that this new version has lots of the same features that we loved such as a bat illuminated in front of the moon, but this time we’ve added cobwebs, ghosts and even some 3D steps up to the front door.
What I love about this craft as well is that you don’t need loads of expensive materials to make it, chances are that you’ll already have most of these things at home.
You can make this as a paper craft if you like and just print out your craft template onto normal printer paper but I would recommend that if you can you go for cardstock instead as it’s going to make your haunted house that little bit more sturdy.
There’s also two different designs that you can choose from. The first is already colored in so all you need to do is print it out, cut out the outline and you’re ready to stick the parts together.
The second design is a black and white outline so if you’d like to you can color it in yourself. Of course you can still color it in black but if you want a gray, pink or purple haunted house there’s nothing to stop you!
There are two pages to grab for each design so that you have a front and a back to your house.
In the materials list below you’ll find a choice of things that you can use, depending on how detailed you’d like to make your craft.
For the most basic version you’ll just need the materials listed. Don’t worry it will still work perfectly and this is the version you can see in the photos.
Want to really go for it? Take a look through the optional materials and you can add colored lights to the house’s windows.
Haunted House Luminary
Want to make your haunted house into a spooky lantern craft? To use this printable to make a haunted house that light’s up all you need to do is cut open the door when you make it and place a lit LED tea light inside it.
The light will shine out and it’s going to look like a super spooky haunted house!

Haunted House Craft
Print your preferred house template onto white printed paper or cardstock. If you’ve chosen the template that can be colored in then now is the time to go for it and get your coloring materials out.
Next is cutting out. There are five different pieces to cut out and you can do so without worrying that they’ll get mixed up as each part has any details you’ll need written onto the tab.
Once all the pieces are cut out fold along any dotted lines. You’ll also find that there are dotted lines around the front door and at the top of the steps. Cut along these lines so that your door can be opened and you can slot in the front steps to your house.
If you’d like to cut out the windows then now is the time to do so. You can do this using scissors or an adult can do this using a craft knife. Stick colored tissue paper or cellophane to the backs of the windows if you would like them to be lit up with a color.
Next it’s time to stick your haunted house together and make it 3D. You can use glue for this but my personal preference is to use double sided tape.
The main benefit of this is that once you have stuck two parts together the tape will hold it in place and you don’t need to worry at all about it unsticking.
The only downside to this is that it doesn’t unstick easily, so you do really need to be careful where you are sticking each part.
Following the instruction on your printable stick each folded part to the correct corresponding place, making sure the support panels A and B are in place. Don’t worry – the printable makes it really clear where each part needs to go!
I would recommend that before you stick the front of the house to the back you stick your folded steps into place as this will be easier before the final parts are attached. Once you’ve glued on your steps stick down tabs C and D and attach the bottom of the back of the house onto the bottom of the front of the house.
You will also find the instructions for this craft printed on the documents when you download and print them so you can easily see each step as you need to do it. The printable also includes photos of the finished craft too.
If you’d like to, you can now pop a lit LED candle inside your craft to light up your haunted house. (Obviously don’t use a real candle!) This is going to look great displayed for Halloween, I might pop mine in my window so anyone passing by can see it too.
More Free Halloween Craft Printables
I love sharing free printables for kids crafts because they’re a great way to help parents, carers and teachers get creative with kids without having to spend a ton of money. We all know how quickly the cost of kids activities can add up!
There are loads of printables and templates on this site perfect for spooky season but these three are some of my current favorites.
This cut and paste pumpkin craft is a great way to practice some scissor skills while having fun. You can color the pumpkin in and then choose from a variety of eyes, noses and mouths to add to design your own Jack O’Lantern.
We also have this super cute cut and paste spider craft template. Well I think it looks cute anyway!
As well as being able to make your own spider the printable also includes a spiders web that you can attach it to. You can draw on some spiders for it to eat if you like as well.
Finally for a simple outline that you can add your own creative touch to why not check out our witches cauldron template?
We’ve also used this in one of our tutorials to make some bubbling potion coming out of the top.
