Creating Christmas Memories with Balsam Hill Christmas Trees

6th December 2016 by Kate Williams | 5 Comments

I think it really is true that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Yes, it can be stressful and expensive but as soon as the big day starts to loom on the horizon it’s also fantastic to see how excited the kids are and how much adults too are inspired by it, not always in the hunt for toys (although I’m still hoping for a Unikitty) but in acts of kindness and sharing.  This year we were asked if we’d like to try out one of the trees from Balsam Hill – a favourite with tv shows and celebrities – and both myself and the kids were super keen to put the tree up and check it out!

16 Christmas Hacks You Need To Try

Updated on 26th February 2019 by Kate Williams | 9 Comments

I love Christmas but I don’t love hassle and stress. For me Christmas is all about having fun, spending time with family, enjoying each others company and generally having a good time. It’s not about spending forever cooking, cleaning, running out of wrapping paper or stressing all of which suck the joy out of joyeux noel. I love reading other people’s ideas and tips to make life a bit easier so today I’m sharing 16 Christmas hacks with you with ideas from wrapping paper storage to giant Christmas wreaths and festive pancakes for Christmas morning – I hope you love them too!

Christmas Gift Guide

Updated on 29th October 2025 by Kate Williams | 10 Comments

It’s that time of the year when I brave trying to think what the kids would actually like for Christmas instead of just what they’ve seen advertised on TV. I know what my kids say they want and what they’ll actually enjoy are often two different things as my son showed me a picture of a drone this week and told me he wanted it for Christmas but when I asked him what it was he didn’t have a clue! Today I’m sharing some of the things that we have that we love, they’re the things that I think will last all year round not just for Christmas day and they’re things that I really like too!

5 School Run Essentials And How to Save Money On Them

3rd November 2016 by Kate Williams | 5 Comments

It is possibly an understatement to say that I am not a morning person. I’m sure I could be, if mornings started a little bit later in the day but my kids have a tendency towards getting up at silly o’clock and so by the time 6am hits I’m normally already in a bit of a grump. I’m not super vain but feeling good on the school run helps to put me in a better mood for the day. My hair might still be a bit flyaway but if I’ve managed to pop some make up on or I’m wearing a good coat or shoes then I feel a bit better about myself. I’ve got a few school run essentials that I love and today I’m also sharing how you can save some money on some of them too – making your essentials totally justifiable!

What We Wore: JoJo Maman Bebe 4-in-1 Waterproof Polarfleece Jacket

31st October 2016 by Kate Williams | 10 Comments

I’m not sure if it’s true or just my opinion but I’m sure that in Cornwall the weather seems to change quicker than it did in Essex. I seem to have sent my son into school in the wrong school uniform most days, him wearing trousers and jumpers while his friends are in shorts or vice versa. With autumn arriving it’s certainly been cooler and we’ve had some really rainy days but as a family we’ve been making a concerted effort to still get out and enjoy the outdoors whenever we can.
