Creating Christmas Memories with Balsam Hill Christmas Trees

6th December 2016 by Kate Williams | 5 Comments

I think it really is true that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Yes, it can be stressful and expensive but as soon as the big day starts to loom on the horizon it’s also fantastic to see how excited the kids are and how much adults too are inspired by it, not always in the hunt for toys (although I’m still hoping for a Unikitty) but in acts of kindness and sharing.  This year we were asked if we’d like to try out one of the trees from Balsam Hill – a favourite with tv shows and celebrities – and both myself and the kids were super keen to put the tree up and check it out!

This is our first year down in Cornwall away from all our family, it’s a slightly different kind of Christmas this year because we won’t have in place the traditions we’ve previously had – seeing Grandparents on Christmas Day or the tradition me and my husband started a few years back which we loved – going out for a huge curry on Boxing Day. Honestly I’ve never seen my normally picky kids consume as much as when shown an Indian Buffet.

This being the case it’s really important to us that this Christmas is a good one, it will be different and that is absolutely fine and to be expected but we know that we have to try and make some new, good Christmas memories. Decorating the tree is always a bit of a bit deal, and if I’m honest normally a bit more stressful than I’d like it to be. What I loved about our tree from Balsam Hill is that it comes with all the lights attached, meaning that my husband and I didn’t have to do our normal dance with gritted teeth to get the lights on – we just put the of the tree together and ta-da, ready to be switched on and admired.

We opted for the Vermont White Spruce which at six and a half foot has quite a commanding role in our current home, but choosing an artificial tree means that I know this will be with us for years yet and we’ve already been discussing where it will be placed in the house we’re moving to next year, a larger period home that I can’t wait to fill with festive cheer. The kids, of course love the tree here now, next to our dining table cheerfully lighting up our meals, I couldn’t get a picture of the whole thing but I’m sure you can see how great it looks!

Every year it’s the kids job to decorate the tree and they loved using the Christmas Cheer bauble sets that Balsam Hill sent us. For me it was great to see something classy and well coordinated on the tree (not just the kids stuff!) but they loved the decorations too – exclaiming as they saw their reflections in them and choosing the perfect place for each one to go. We also recieved a tree skirt for our tree which gives the space made for your presents look that little more special than just dumping your gifts on the floor.

Balsam Hill is not the cheapest of trees on the market but our tree looks beautiful and we know that it will last for years to come – more of an investment piece than something to buy and then throw after a year. It’s something that will become a part of my childrens Christmas memories across the years as we start to create new traditions in our new home.

That really is a lovely tree. I always thought artificial looked a bit well, artificial before, but this looks like a good one! 🙂 Hope you have a lovely Christmas anyway, I know only too well what it’s like to be away from friends and family at this time of year! x

It really looks good for an artificial tree and I love the idea of having the lights already attached.

I love our pre-lit tree from Balsom Hill. I have been looking at their wreaths and swags and am tempted!
