Oh this week has been a whatsit, it really has. And when things get bad there’s only one thing to do, and that’s to drink lots of wine. But when its still morning and you can’t really get away with that there’s the other option which is cracking out the spray paint. Because spray paint makes everything better, right? So get here’s some upcycled jam jars, because when the going gets tough, the tough get crafting.
Crafts for grown ups
So, it was BritMums Live at the weekend and I wanted to take some business cards with me. But then I went on holiday and forgot to order any, oops! A quick jaunt into town for a quote which even the sales assistant said was silly meant I was going to have to go without or make some myself and so hurray! It’s washi to the rescue again with these washi tape business cards!
You know when you see someone wearing something and you think ‘I should buy that!’ And then you think ‘Actually, no, I shoud make that! Duh!’ Well that was me and even though it was super easy to figure out how to make button earrings (and super easy to make them too!) I figured I’d share it to help inspire someone else, after all, who couldn’t do with more cute accessories?!
I’m a big fan of using stuff that we already own rather than buying new things. This plant pot was bought at the WI for the grand total of one pound and I fell in love with it. My husband, naturally, was horrified so I decided to turn it into an upcycled plant pot. This meant that my son and I could happily spend the afternoon planting a new herb garden, result.
With two small kids I’m always trying to think of crafts I can do very, very quickly. I thought it might be fun to do a tutorial on how to make a tag blanket as I knew it would be something my daughter would enjoy and therefore also meaning I felt rightious in doing some sewing rather than the housework! I did the majority of this while she had a nap and (as she woke up earlier than planned, boooo), finished the last bit after she’d woken up. I think the whole thing took less than an hour which makes this not only a ‘how to make a tag blanket’ but also a ‘how to get stuff done very quickly while your kids nap’!
