Valentines Bunting

Updated on 9th January 2019 by Kate Williams | 26 Comments

The other day I was mentally berating myself a bit for not having made anything yet for Valentines day and I suddenly remembered, I have bunting! Go me! In fairness I made this a couple of years back, just before I started this blog and a very small, slightly dodgy picture of it made it’s way into one of my first ever posts about how to make super quick felt bunting, but I figure as that was nearly two years ago and basically only me and my mum saw the post, it might be ok to look at it again?! After all, it is nearly Valentines Day, who doesn’t want some quick Valentines bunting?!

Easy Valentines BuntingTo make this super easy and quick valentines bunting all you need is some coloured felt and a meter or two of ribbon.

Cut out some heart shapes, I do this free hand as I’m way to lazy to do a template and I like to get stuff done quickly!

You can sew the hearts onto your ribbon free hand but it will take you a while. If you’ve got a sewing machine you can do this in a couple of minutes! Take the sewing slowly or it may bunch up. Its likely that your machine won’t really fancy the sudden change in thickness so be prepared to move your presser foot up and down if you have to. I promise you this is still super quick to make even with doing that!

And there you go, bunting made and your room decorated! This a great quick and cheap little project you can do to make your room look fancy but as it’s so simple it would also be suitable if you have a child that’s learning to sew.

Like it? Don’t forget to pin it!!

What a lovely activity – I cannot sew freehand or on a machine.

Lovely! Bunting is so easy to make, although my Hallowe’en spider one was a bit fiddly!

That is adorable – I can sew free hand and have to as I’ve no machine however I must invest as there is too much I want to make – this included!

Wow, very pretty but I can’t say I’ve put decorations up for Valentine’s Day EVER in my life! Am I the Valentine equivalent of a ‘bah humbug’?

Great idea. I have an embroidery foot for my machine so I could do lots of swirls on the hearts as well.
