Playdough Smash: Number Recognition Game

7th March 2017 by Kate Williams | 3 Comments

Over the last couple of weeks my daughter has suddenly become really interested in learning numbers, both counting and recognising the numbers written down. It’s made the school and nursery run a bit more interesting because she likes to yell out any numbers she recognises on the back of busses when we’re stuck in traffic! This number recognition game is super simple but there’s a couple of ways I’ll suggest to change it up too so that you could use it with older kids or use it for learning to count.

Preschool Number Stamping Activity

15th February 2017 by Kate Williams | 3 Comments

Recently I’ve been trying to help my daughter learn how to count. Actually I have a sneaking suspicion that she might be able to count already but either she’s forgotten or her obsession with the number eight (no, I have no idea why either) means that other numbers don’t get a look in. Either way, this simple activity for teaching numbers to preschoolers was super simple to set up and allowed us to look at numbers together in a way that was fun and also helped with hand-eye coordination.

20 Quick Set Up Sensory Bin Ideas for Toddlers

Updated on 23rd June 2017 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

My daughter loves playing with sensory bins and I enjoy her playing with them – they can keep her occupied for hours! I’m happy to admit that I can spend ages eyeing up gorgeous sensory bin ideas for toddlers on Pinterest but there’s one, ok two small issues with this. Firstly, I just don’t have the time to spend ages making intricate small world sensory bins because I have two small kids (and the aforementioned Pinterest addiction) and secondly, well, my toddler seriously couldn’t care less how long I’ve spend prepping something. She just wants to play and if it doesn’t take me half an hour to clean up then hey that’s much better for me. So with that in mind I’m today sharing 10 ideas that will only take you a few minutes to prep.

Simple Fresh Flower Playdough

Updated on 20th November 2018 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

We love sharing sensory play ideas for kids and been doing a lot of sensory activities with flowers in the last couple of weeks at my daughter’s insistence, I think we’re just both very pleased to see some decent weather arrive and some flowers along with it! This fresh flower playdough only takes a couple of minutes to make and is a fun and inexpensive way to keep the kids busy and happy so it’s great if you need activities for toddlers but it’s still good fun for older kids too. Hunting for the flowers in the dough gives kids a different kind of way to play with playdough, of course you could get the normal cutters and so on out, but we enjoyed hunting for the hidden gems inside it and umm… making cups of floral playdough tea.
