Free Santa Hat Template
In the lead up to Christmas my kids always want to do ALL the Christmas crafts and activities so with that in mind we’re sharing this free Santa hat template with you.
All our templates can be printed as many times as you like so if you’re doing some crafting with more than one child or in a classroom or preschool they’re a great way to get an activity set up without having to draw the same thing out again and again.
You’ll find loads of ideas here for ways that you can decorate your Santa hat but if you just want to use it as a coloring sheet too then that’s fine, it’s always good to have some simple quiet time activities as the festive period can be a bit overwhelming for all of us.
We’ve got loads of Christmas templates and printables that you can download for free so make sure to take a look at those too.
Santa Hat Craft Ideas
Coloring
Grab the markers, crayons or coloring pencils and use this printable as a Santa hat coloring page.
If your child enjoys coloring then you might want to print off some of our other Christmas templates so they have a few to choose from.
Add Cotton Balls
Santa’s hat is always super fluffy so grab some cotton balls and glue them on to the base of his hat.
You can stick the cotton balls on as they are or unroll the balls first to make them longer and cover more of the area.
Photo Booth Prop
If you’d like to use this as a prop for some selfies and Christmas photos make sure that you print it onto cardstock so that it’s not too flimsy.
You’ll also wat to attach a stick to it with some tape so that you can hold it up properly.
Create an Elf Hat
Of course you could use this template to design a hat for someone else to wear!
Grab your green markers and this could make a great hat for an elf or why not try adding some patterns with stripes, spots or even some snowflakes.
Pom Pom Printing
Pom poms are a great material to match with this craft due to the large pom pom on the end of Santa’s hat.
Pour some red paint into a plate or tray and dip your pom pom into the paint before using it to dab the paint onto the template.
If your child doesn’t like getting their hands messy you can use a clothes peg to hold the pom pom.
Foil painting
No pom poms? No problem! Another way to paint your hat using the same technique is to use a ball of scrunched up kitchen foil (aluminium foil) instead.
