Toilet Paper Roll Santa Craft

9th December 2021 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

Advert. This toilet paper roll Santa craft is perfect for Christmas and makes a cute decoration that you’ll love to display!

I’ve made this craft using materials that I already had at home (because who doesn’t have toilet rolls?!) and the Festive Craft Kit from Edukit. It was lots of fun to create and I hope that you’ll enjoy it too.

Toilet Paper Roll Santa Craft

The craft I’ve made today is based on the cardboard tube Santa tutorial that you’ll find in the Edukit Festive Craft Kit but I’ve made a few changes to accommodate the additional materials I had at home like cotton balls.

In this tutorial I’ve used tape a few times rather than glue because it holds things in place instantly, when you are crafting with kids I know from experience with my own children that they don’t always have the patience to wait for glue to dry of things can get knocked so tape, while a little fiddly, can be a good option.

About The EduKit Festive Craft Kit

Edukit design craft kits to keep your child entertained with tons of craft materials stashed inside. Not sure what to make? Don’t worry as the box comes with tutorials for more Christmas crafts you can make with a 3D Christmas tree and a festive felt wreath.

The Edukit Festive Craft kit contains over 1,000 pieces including foam sheets, pipe cleaners, mini pom poms, felt sheets and crepe paper so even once you’ve finished your activity you’ll still have plenty left for creating more festive crafts.

You can find out more about the Edukit Festive Craft Kit on their website and order a box yourself or it’s also available on Amazon.

How To Make Your Cardboard Tube Santa

Cut your red card to the same height as your cardboard tube and then wrap it around the tube securing it in place with tape or glue. If you don’t want to cut the card to size then you can use red crepe paper instead and tuck the ends into each end of your cardboard tube.

Cut a thin strip of black card to make Santa’s belt. Glue this near the base of the toilet roll cutting away any excess.

Stick a square jewel shape onto the belt to make Santa’s belt buckle.

Cut a horseshoe shape out of the peach coloured card for Santa’s face and use double sided tape or glue to stick this to the top of your cardboard tube.

To make Santa’s hat cut a triangle from the red card.

Put some double sided tape on the base of the triangle then stick this to the inside of your cardboard tube so the hat is poking up behind Santa’s face. An alternative to this that the Edukit box uses is to cut a circle out of red felt and then cut a line into it so that you can make a cone shape to glue on for Santa’s hat.

Roll out your cotton ball to make it into a line then put some more glue or double sided tape around the edge of Santa’s face and the base of his hat. Add your cotton wool to make Santa’s beard and a woolly brim to Santa’s hat.

Stick your googly eyes onto Santa’s face. I’ve also added some pink cheeks using a chalk pen and if you wanted you could add a little mouth using a black pen.

Put a small amount of glue or tape on the back of your red pom pom and glue it onto Santa’s face to make his nose.

Finally use a little piece of tape or glue at the top of Santa’s hat and add a small white pom pom to it.
