Cut and Paste Easter Bonnet Craft
My kids love the Easter celebrations and it’s something that they really look forward too. We started seeing mini eggs and chocolate bunnies in supermarkets in February and that’s also the same time they started getting excited about it, it’s a pretty long wait though!
As we get closer to the day it’s always a nice idea to make the most of any celebrations by doing some easy arts and crafts with your kids.
This printable is free to download and you’ll find the instructions printed onto the first page of the template but as you can see below this DIY is really easy to make and it’s also one that you can add to if you’d like.
There are loads of accessories and embellishments on our printable for you to glue onto your hat with Easter eggs, daisies, tulips and a cute Easter chick but if you’d like to add more why not try feathers, pom poms, tissue paper flowers or shredded paper.
Making an Easter bonnet like this is a great excuse to really go extra and have a hunt through any old craft supplies that you have lying around to come up with some fun Easter bonnet ideas.
If you like this template but want something a little more basic then you can check out our Easter bonnet template which has two simple designs perfect for coloring.
Craft Supplies Needed:
- Easter bonnet craft PDF
- White paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Coloring pencils, colored markers or crayons
Easter Bonnet Craft
Start by printing out the Easter bonnet craft PDF onto white paper or cardstock.
Cardstock or thick paper will make your bonnet a bit more durable but I’ve used normal printer paper here and that was absolutely fine for this activity.
Color in all of the items on the first sheet and your Easter hat. Of course you can just leave your bonnet white if you’d prefer but personally I like to add a bit of color where I can.
Yellow is often a traditional color for straw hats but go with whatever color you like best.
Grab your scissors and carefully cut out the bonnet and all of the embellishments following the dotted lines around each item.
Glue the ribbon and bow onto your bonnet. Both PVA glue (school glue) and glue sticks are absolutely fine for this.
I added my bow before I added the rest of the decorations to my Easter bonnet but you could also leave this until later so that the bow is at the front of the decorations if you would prefer.
Now it’s time to get creative with all of the cute decorations for your bonnet. Glue each of them onto your hat to make it ready for your Easter celebrations and make a super fun design of your own.
