Taking part in an Easter egg hunt is one of my kids favorite activities of the year and this free printable cut and paste Easter basket craft is a great way for you to have fun at home or in a classroom as you collect your own paper Easter eggs.
This printable comes with two pages of Easter egg designs that you can download, one with patterned eggs that we’ve designed and one page of blank Easter eggs for you to color or add your own design to.
The basket is made from two separate pages so once you’ve glued them together you can put all your eggs in the middle to carry them around, plus of course you can pop our adorable Easter chick in there too!

Cut and Paste Easter Basket Craft
I’ve shared lots of fun cut and paste crafts recently but this has to be one of my favorites because it’s one that you can play with afterwards, just make sure that you use thick paper or card stock to make the Easter basket itself.
You’ll find step by step directions below but the Easter basket template itself also has instructions and guidance for what to glue where so if you’re making this with kids in a setting where you can’t get to a computer, such as in a library or classroom setting, then don’t panic, this is still a really easy Easter basket craft to make.
Number and Letter Recognition Add-on
If you’re working with your child on their numeracy, literacy or color recognition then you might like to check out the printable Easter worksheets add-on for this craft which has additional pages of eggs with numbers, colors and upper and lowercase letters.
Craft Materials Needed:
- Easter basket craft PDF
- White paper or cardstock
- Glue
- Scissors
- Coloring pencils, colored markers or crayons
Easter Basket Craft
Start by printing the PDF file onto white printer paper or cardstock. Cardstock will make the basket more durable so I would recommend this at least for the basket if possible as you child will be putting their eggs in and out of it.
You only need to print both pages of eggs if you will be using both. I like having the mixture of plain and pattered Easter eggs but it’s your choice as to what you would like for your craft.
Color in the first two pages featuring the basket and any eggs that you would like to use.
Following the dotted lines on the printables cut out all the separate pieces from the first two pages and all the eggs that you will be using.
Take the basket outline from the first page and glue both the bow and ‘Happy Easter’ gift tag onto it.
Next take the second basket outline and following the guidelines on the printable itself add some glue around the edges before sticking the two parts of the basket together, leaving a gap where the eggs can be inserted.
Your Easter basket craft is now finished and you can add your chick and any eggs that you like into your basket.
