I love these family recipes for baby led weaning as the great thing about blw is that you can feed your child whatever you’re eating for dinner but the less than great thing is that having a baby doesn’t suddenly fill your head with a million recipe ideas. Spaghetti bolognase again? (We had it again tonight, I feel your pain!)

I loved doing Baby Led Weaning with my kids. With my first born I tried doing purees too but frankly by the time I reached my second child being weaned I had neither the time to make loads of purees nor the cash to buy lots of ready made ones.

Also, my favourite bit about baby led weaning? I got to eat at the same time as my kids and actually use both hands to eat!

Don’t knock it, I’m sure most of us mums are fully used to luke warm dinners eaten with one hand by the time our child reaches six months old.

I really enjoyed being able to share family meals when my daughter started weaning. She refused to touch anything on a spoon so baby led weaning was the only option!

Sometimes though I struggled with baby led weaning dinner ideas that the whole family would eat. They still had to be something my 4 year old might like and as my daughter didn’t have teeth until she was nearly one sometimes I’d get a bit stuck for things she could actually eat rather than just suck.

These ideas are all meals that we ate as a family while doing baby led weaning and which both of my kids would eat some of!

What is Baby Led Weaning and Is It Right For Your Family?

Baby Led Weaning is loved by many parents as the easy way to feed their kids, other parents find it tricky to think of ideas for baby led weaning meals that the whole family can eat. As the mum of two kids I feel like I’ve tried every approach to finding out the best way to encourage my kids to eat healthy food. My eldest (my son) tried homemade purees, shop bought purees, finger foods and a bit of baby led weaning. He wasn’t too fussed by anything.
