Build a Squirrel Craft
We’ve shared a lot of cut and paste crafts recently but I must admit that this build a squirrel craft is one of my favorites, I think that the design is super cute and the simple one page design means that you can make it with kids of all ages. While preschoolers will need adult help to do the cutting older kids will be able to do it themselves.
We regularly see grey squirrels near our homes but I love the bright colors of red squirrels too. You can choose which way you’d like to color your squirrel craft (or if you’d like go totally off script and make a rainbow squirrel!)

Craft Supplies Needed
- Build a squirrel craft printable
- White paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Coloring pencils, colored markers or crayons
How To Make Your Cut and Paste Squirrel
Start by printing your PDF onto white paper or card. I’ve used normal white printer paper to make my squirrel but if you want something a bit more durable or sturdy then opt for cardstock instead.
Color in all the parts of your squirrel as well as the tree stump and acorn.
Use scissors to cut out each part of the craft, you’ll find a dotted line around each item to help guide you.
Make your squirrel by gluing its head onto the top of its body and then glue on the arms and legs, attaching one of each to the front of the body and one to the back.
Stick the acorn between your squirrel’s hands and then glue your squirrel on to the tree stump to finish your craft.

Equipment
- Build a squirrel craft printable
- White paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Coloring pencils, colored markers or crayons
Instructions
- Print the PDF design onto white paper or cardstock.
- Color in all of the parts of the squirrel, acorn and tree trunk.
- Use scissors to cut all the parts out.
- Glue together the different parts of the squirrel, following the guidance on the printable showing where to glue each bit.
- Glue the acorn between the squirrels hands and then stick your squirrel on top of the tree stump.
