Monster Printable

This printable monster template is perfect for Halloween, but of course it’s actually one you can use again and again, maybe as something to help encourage creative learning about space or as a love monster for Valentine’s Day.

There are two different designs available for you to download in this PDF.

The first is a basic monster outline that’s perfect for helping you to create your own monster design while the second picture has more details with the horns fully drawn in, plus a mouth, eye and spots.

More Free Halloween Templates

These are a few of my current favorites but obviously take a look through the whole list if you’d like to check them all out.

Monster Craft Ideas Using Our Printable Templates

Monster Coloring Pages

Coloring is always an easy activity and not knowing exactly what a monster would look like means you’re free to be as creative as you like and use all your favorite colors.

The designs in our PDF file make great monster coloring pages and as well as it being something that’s really quick to set up it’s normally a fun activity that kids of all ages enjoy too (as do adults!)

Just print out whichever template you’d prefer and grab your crayons, markers and coloring pencils.

Make a Monster Puppet Craft

To make a simple monster puppet print your template out on to white cardstock (or colored for a more colorful background if you want). Color it in and cut out the monster shape.

Stick a popsicle stick or other long stick onto the back of this and you can use it for a non-scary puppet show maybe including some of our other printables too.

No popsicle sticks? How about gluing your monster onto the front of a paper bag to play with?

Bubble Wrap Painting Monster Craft

Bubble wrap painting is a great way to decorate something. Simply pour a little bit of paint onto a plate of tray and then dab some bubble wrap into it before pressing it onto your template to cover it in spots.

When I’ve done this with my kids I’ve found that it’s best to make a kind of mitt out of the bubble wrap, folding it in the middle and putting sellotape on two sides so that they can put their hand inside it.

This stops them from getting too covered in paint and means that they can focus more on where they are placing their paint and how it feels rather than trying to grab hold of paint covered bubble wrap.

Monster Collage Craft

Using collage is one of my favorite ways to decorate kids crafts, not only is a great way to encourage creativity and explore different textures but it’s a brilliant way to use up any scraps or leftovers that you have lurking at the bottom of your craft box that you don’t know what to do with. Feathers and craft sticks are pretty much my nemesis.

Look for different materials that you can use, after all no one knows what a monster looks like. Scrap paper, old magazines, construction paper, and corrugated cardboard are all good especially if you want to practice cutting skills.

Yarn, pom poms, pasta, googly eyes and natural materials are also favorites of ours and then all you need scissors and glue to cut your items into shape and stick them onto your monster.

Generally a glue stick is fine for most things but you may find that you want PVA / school glue if your materials don’t have a flat surface.

More Halloween Crafts for Kids

This paper bag mummy craft is really easy to make and kids can use it as a puppet as well.

I love, love, love our resist art ghost craft! It’s really suitable for all ages as you can chuck loads of paint on it and still end up with something that looks great, plus you can use our template to make it.

Of course I couldn’t talk about monster crafts and not mention this paper bowl monster. We used paper bowls as that was what we had at home but obviously you could change this and use paper plates instead.
