I’m not sure if it’s quite harvest time yet but in the farms near us we’ve seen a lot of hay bales and tractors out in the fields so it certainly feels that way! This harvest basket craft is a really simple way for kids to celebrate this special time of year, it would be great to use for Harvest festival or even just for a fun snack time – my kids certainly enjoyed doing so!
Younger kids can enjoy the colouring, making this a good scarecrow craft for preschoolers while older children can do the cutting themselves and help to make the basket.

What Can You Put In Your Basket?
Of course you don’t have to put anything in your basket at all but if you’d like to it’s certainly a cute way to turn it into a craft that you could use to help celebrate Harvest Festival or as a fun way to serve up a snack.
Obviously it’s not going to hold anything too heave so don’t try and add those tins you had saved for Harvest Festival!
For a snack we put some grapes in ours or a box of raisins would be good too, you don’t want anything too wet in paper so none of my daughters favourite chopped strawberries.
Rice cakes, popcorn, nuts, blueberries or mini bread sticks might work well too.
How Could This Craft be Adapted?
I’ve left the scarecrows faces blank on my basket but why not get your child to design a face for their scarecrow?

- Sellotape

Materials
- Scarecrow Printable
Instructions
- First print out the scarecrow PDF from this website.
- Cut the two pieces out so you have the main part of the basket and the handle.
- Colour in both parts of the printable.
- Fold in all the sides of the main part of the basket along the lines.
- Following the instructions on the template, fold in the corners and then secure these in place with sellotape.
- Tape the handle into place and your basket is ready to be used.
