What You'll Find on This Page
Starfish Template
Our starfish craft template has two different designs, both of which you can download in the PDF pack and then all you need to do is decide which one you want to use.
The first design is a large starfish outline while the second design has a little more detail to it as you can see in the image above.
You’ll find lots of easy starfish craft ideas below as well as some more ocean themed free templates that would be a perfect match for this printable.
Starfish Craft Ideas
Coloring
Coloring is always a good activity option, it’s really quick to set up, is perfect for a quiet time activity and it’s something that most kids (and a lot of adults!) really enjoy too.
To use this printable as a starfish coloring sheet just print out your favorite design onto white printer paper and then grab crayons, markers or coloring pencils.
Finger Painting
This is a great option for toddlers and preschoolers and we think that using your fingers to paint with makes a fun alternative to always just reaching for a paintbrush – just make sure that you have some wipes to hand or do this activity very close to a sink so kids can clean their hands afterwards.
Resist Art
Resist art is such a fun way to try out new art techniques with your kids and if you use materials like scrunched foil or pom poms to paint with then it’s a great way to make your painting look really textured as well, ideal for a starfish craft.
If you haven’t tried making resist art before then check out our resist art fish craft for a full tutorial, you could also adapt this to using your template to make a starfish stencil and using resist art on the centre of the picture instead.
Collage
Collages are a great way to practice scissor skills while also using up any old craft materials that you have lying around.
Have a hunt for materials that you can use and then glue them onto your starfish outline. Some of our favorites are colored cardstock or paper, bubble wrap, sequins, ribbon, natural materials like leaves and tree bark, pom poms and cupcake liners.
When making a collage I find that PVA glue (school glue) works better than a glue stick due to the odd textures of the materials used.
