Dolphin Template
My kids love dolphins and I’m happy to admit that I do too. These gorgeous creatures are so intelligent and they’re ones that it feels really special to see in the wild. I know there’s some near to where we live but despite years of looking I’ve yet to see any!
Dolphins make a great choice if you are looking at ocean animals with your child or if you are doing an under the sea topic in your preschool, kindergarten or classroom.
We have lots of other free printables and templates that would work with this topic too so you could even use them to decorate your bulletin board for a fun decoration.
These dolphin printables are free to download and once you have the PDF files you can print it as many times as you like so it’s perfect if you are working with a group or just if you are at home and want to try out a few ideas without the pressure of having to get something ‘right’ first time – we’ve definitely had some glue or paint spilt on designs before!
There are two different designs available, one is a basic dolphin outline that’s ideal for adding your own ideas to while the other has a little more detail including the dolphin’s eye and blowhole which is great for using for coloring.
Dolphin Craft Ideas
Coloring
These printable sheets make great dolphin coloring pages and it’s a really simple and easy activity for you to set up too.
All you need to do is print out your favorite dolphin image and grab your markers, coloring pencils or crayons and you’re ready to get started. You could use grey colors for a realistic looking dolphin or if you’re feeling creative create a design with flowers or rainbows and plenty of glitter and create your own new species!
Torn Paper
Tearing paper is great for fine motor skills and it’s also a really good way to use up any old colored paper or construction paper that you have that’s looking past it’s prime!
All you need to do is cover the body of your dolphin in glue and then tear paper into shapes to cover its body.
Pom Pom Printing
I love painting with pom poms as a simple way to paint without using paintbrushes and it can give a really nice texture to your art as well.
Pour a bit of paint onto a plate or tray and then, holding your pom pom in your fingers, dab it into the paint and then dab it onto your picture to color it in.
You can stick with one color for this or choose a few to give a more mixed effect – always good for helping to learn about color mixing too!
Painting with Foil
Painting with aluminum foil is really easy and just requires a similar set up to using pom poms. I like this as an alternative as it’s something that lots of us have in a cupboard in our kitchen so it’s a good choice if you fancy trying something different but don’t want to rush out to buy more craft supplies.
