Paper Christmas Tree Craft (FREE Printable)

23rd November 2023 by Kate Williams | 2 Comments

Need something to keep the kids busy during the festive period? This paper Christmas tree craft has eleven pages of designs so you can design and make your own Christmas tree and best of all it’s free to download.

In our home there’s always some discussion around how we should decorate the Christmas tree, from basic classic white lights to a full on explosion of colors with tinsel, stars, candy canes and everything else my kids could imagine.

This printable craft allows kids to design their own tree exactly how they want it and of course it’s a great excuse to practice their scissor skills while they’re at it.

Paper Christmas Tree Craft

I love Christmas tree crafts and I’ve been making them with my kids for years. For me the day when the Christmas tree goes up is a big signifier that the holiday season has officially started and by the amount of times I get asked by my children when the tree is getting decorated I’m fairly certain that they feel the same way too.

This year I’ve shared a lot of cut and paste printables on this site so that you can build lots of festive characters with your kids.

In fact there’s already a one page build a Christmas tree printable that you can download but because we like to go extra here I’m also sharing this Christmas tree printable which has 11 pages of options for you to grab, perfect for making this craft with a group.

Craft Supplies

  • Christmas tree craft PDF
  • White printer paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Glue or double sided tape
  • Coloring materials – markers, crayons or coloring pencils

How To Make Your Christmas Tree Craft

Start by printing out all the pages of the PDF that you’ll be using. If you are making this Christmas tree craft with a group then you might want to print out every page but if you’re doing this at home then you probably only need to print one Christmas tree design.

You can print the PDF onto normal printer paper or cardstock depending on how sturdy you want it to be.

Printer paper is cheap and a great option plus it tends to be easier to cut but cardstock is good if you want to keep this craft afterwards or are worried about it getting damaged or torn.

You could also try printing the main Christmas tree onto green cardstock.

Grab your coloring materials and color in your Christmas tree and decorations and then cut them out.

If you are using the design which needs to be stuck together then now is the time to do this, otherwise you just need to glue on the bottom trunk of your tree and the pot at the bottom.

Glue your lights or tinsel onto your tree, just like with a real Christmas tree it’s best to do these first.

Glue your tree topper to the top of your Christmas tree and stick your gifts to the base around the Christmas tree’s pot.

Finally glue on the remainder of your Christmas tree ornaments and decorations and your craft is done.
