Leprechaun Paper Craft

Whether you’re planning on celebrating St Patricks Day with parades, food or music, this moveable leprechaun paper craft is a great addition to any St Patrick’s Day crafts, either in the lead up to the big day or to make on the day itself.

I love crafts that you can use in some way once you’ve made them and using thick paper or card stock for this craft will give it that bit of durability which means that you can play with your completed leprechaun, making it move or dance about.

As usual, you’ll find basic instructions for this craft on the printable as well as more detailed step by step instructions below.

Craft Supplies

  • Leprechaun Paper Craft PDF
  • White cardstock / thick paper
  • Split pins / brass paper fasteners
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Coloring materials – colored pencils or markers
  • Sharp pencil and putty

Split Pin Leprechaun

Start by printing the PDF file onto thick paper or cardstock. As this is a craft that moves and also uses split pins I wouldn’t recommend using normal paper for this as it will be at risk of tearing.

Color in all of the parts of the craft. There are three different accessories that your leprechaun can hold – a flag, some gold coins and a shamrock and you can choose to use as many of these as you like, or none at all!

Using scissors, cut out the separate pieces.

Take your sharp pencil and putty and use these to create the holes in the different pieces as indicated on the template, pushing your pencil through the cardstock into the putty.

Glue the hat buckle onto the hat and then stick this onto your leprechaun’s head as indicated in the printable.

Stick the bowtie onto your leprechaun’s neck and the glue the head onto the body.

If you are using any of the accessories then glue these onto your leprechaun’s hands.

Finally push your split pins through the holes that you have made in your craft to attach the different parts of your leprechauns body to each other, unfolding the back of the pins to ensure that they stay in place.

If you need a reminder at all of what your finished craft should look like then you’ll find a drawing of the completed leprechaun in the top right hand corner of the PDF.

Once all the parts have been connected your leprechaun should be able to move, you could even make them dance around!

Our build a leprechaun craft is ideal for kids with some scissor skills while our more basic leprechaun template is great for decorating or you can design your own leprechaun’s face.

This printable St Patricks Day card is perfect for giving to friends and family and you can color in the rainbow, pot of gold, shamrocks and leprechaun hat too.
