Fish Template
As well as being great to decorate at home with your child this template would also make a great resource for preschools and classrooms.
As you can print as many copies as you like it would be perfect for giving a sheet to each child to decorate that you can then cut out and use as an under the sea bulletin board display. You could also add some of our other ocean themed templates that I’ve shared below.
Its simple black outline means that you can decorate it in a variety of ways, from using these as coloring sheets to some of the more creative ways I’m sharing below.

How To Decorate Your Fish Template
Colouring: The absolute most easy idea and the best for when you really don’t have the energy for anything more complicated!
These printables make great fish coloring sheets so all you need to do is grab your favorite coloring supplies whether that’s coloring pencils, crayons or marker pens and let your child get creative designing a new breed of fish or basing it on those they’ve seen.
Resist Art: Our resist art fish craft has step by step instructions and is a lot of fun to make. Grab some paints with bright colors or stick to shades of blue to make it look more like the ocean. I love the different textures that painting like this can create too.
Playdough: This template would make a great fish playdough mat, if you want to reuse it just make sure that you pop it into a plastic wallet or you could use a self laminating pouch for it.
Try squishing balls of playdough to make scales to place on your fish shape, if you have a lot of different colors you could also use this as an activity for The Rainbow Fish.
Why not try squishing balls of playdough above your fish too to create some cute playdough bubbles!
Pom pom painting: Pom pom painting is a great choice for creating a circular effect with paints that I think would look great as fish scales. Just dab your pom pom into paint before dabbing it all over your fish.
Mosaic: Grab scrap paper, junk mail or construction paper and cut out shapes to glue onto your fish template.
Blues and greens would work well here but I know that my own kids would be just as likely to go for pinks or black so if that works for you then embrace their creativity and go for a variety of colors. This simple craft is a great excuse for kids to practice using scissors and is good for fine motor skills as well.
Bubble wrap: If you have some bubble wrap around it’s a great material for painting with. Place some paint onto a plate and dab the bubble wrap into it before carefully dabbing it onto your picture to cover it in lots of small circles.
