RELATED – Sea Crafts for Kids
As well as being great to decorate at home with your child this template would also make a great resource for preschools and classrooms. As you can print as many copies as you like it would be perfect for giving a sheet to each child to decorate that you can then cut out and use as an under the sea display. You could also add some of our other ocean themed templates that I’ve shared below.
It’s simple black outline means that you can decorate it in a variety of ways, from using it as a colouring page to some of the more creative ways I’m sharing below.

How To Decorate Your Fish Template
Colouring: The absolute most easy idea and the best for when you really don’t have the energy for anything more complicated! Use paints or pens and let your child get creative designing a new breed of fish or basing it on those they’ve seen.
Resist Art: Follow our tutorial to make a resist art fish craft that looks really cool!
Playdough: This template would make a great playdough mat, if you want to reuse it just make sure that you pop it into a plastic wallet or you could use a self laminating pouch for it. Try squishing balls of playdough to make scales to place on your fish, if you have a lot of colours you could also use this as an activity for The Rainbow Fish.
Pom pom painting: Pom pom painting is great for creating a circular effect with paints that I think would look great as fish scales. Just dab your pom pom into paint before dabbing it all over your fish.
Mosaic: Grab scrap paper or junk mail and cut out shapes to glue onto your fish template.Blues and greens would work well here but I know that my own kids would be just as likely to go for pinks or black.
Bubble wrap: If you have some bubble wrap around it’s a great material for painting with. Place some paint onto a plate and dab the bubble wrap into it before carefully dabbing it onto your picture to cover it in lots of small circles.
