Not going to lie, I am more than a little bit in love with this super sweet doily vase flower craft, it’s super cute right? (Although is it a vase or a bouquet? Either works for me!) It includes doilys which are my new favourite super cheap material and it’s perfect for spring or Mothers Day. And it’s pretty – did I mention that? Ok, let’s get on with how to make this easy flower craft.
Doily Flower Craft Materials:
Doily
Watercolour paints
Craft sticks / popsicle sticks
Coloured card
Scissors
Glue
Pompoms
Let’s make it:
Start by painting your doily, of course you could leave it white or use a coloured doily but I think painting these it quite fun. The watercolour paints I’ve used aren’t the fancy ones, this is literally the cheapest paints I could buy from a pound shop. Use more of the paint depending on how dark you want your vase to be but be careful not to get it so wet that it breaks (thankfully it’s not a major issue if it does, just make sure the broken bit is on the inside and no one will ever know!) One of the things that I love about these paints is that they dry a lot quicker than normal kids paints meaning that you can get back to crafting quicker.
While the paint is drying make the flowers to go in the vase, to do this cut some flower shapes out of coloured card and then stick them onto green craft sticks. to finish the flower glue a yellow pom pom into the middle of the petals.
Once the paint is dry you need to fold the doily into a vase shape, to do this simply fold the doily in half and then in half again with the painted side on the outside.
You can now pop your craft stick flowers into your doily and your easy flower craft is finished! This would look great stuck to a card for Mothers Day too!
