Crab Template
I love making under the sea and beach crafts with my kids and it’s a topic that’s come up again and again over the years, especially during summer break when we’re looking for ideas to keep ourselves busy!
We made this easy paper plate crab craft when my kids were one and four years old so it was a great activity for preschoolers but personally I found drawing the crab’s legs for them tricky (they didn’t complain, don’t worry!)
I love using templates like this one because when you’re in a rush it can be really helpful to have something that’s quick to set up and that you know will be easily recognisable for the things it’s meant to be.
We don’t talk about the time I made them teddy bear toast and they thought it was supposed to be a pig!
There are four different designs available in the PDF file for this download, the first is a basic crab outline that’s perfect for decorating and the second one is the same but includes eyes and a mouth.
The third and fourth templates both have more details to the crab’s claws and legs with the third not having details for the eyes or a mouth and the fourth having them.
Crab Craft Ideas
Coloring – coloring is a great activity for kids of all ages, it’s quick to set up, works well as a quiet time activity and is something that lots of kids (and adults) genuinely enjoy doing. To use these printables as crab coloring sheets all you need to do is print out your favorite design and grab your marker pens, coloring pencils or crayons.
Collage – Collages can be a great way to use up any old craft supplies that you have as well as being a good excuse to practice using scissors. Simply hunt out any craft supplies and cut them to size before using glue to stick them onto your template (school glue or PVA often works better than a glue stick for this.) Good collage materials for kids can include colored scrap paper or cardstock, fabric scraps, yarn, dried pasta or rice or natural materials like leaves or sticks.
Tissue Paper Squares – Using tissue paper is a really fun way to to create an easy crab craft. Glue red tissue paper squares onto your crab’s body, add more layers to build up the color.
