Christmas Tree Template
Christmas trees are one of those things that automatically signify Christmas to us and they’re also one of the easiest and most fun things to decorate for kids crafts. I’m sharing quite a few ideas today for Christmas craft ideas you can do with your child but I’m also pretty certain that once you have a look through your craft supplies you’ll come up with loads of ideas too, they’re such a versatile outline to work with!
Of course it’s pretty easy to draw a Christmas tree outline yourself but I often find that mine end up a little wonky or lopsided which is where templates like this are so good. I like to be able to print something out rather than draw a shape and then rub it out half a dozen times because I’m not happy with how it looks.
If you’re doing a craft project with a group as well then this template is perfect as you can print as many copies as you need, great if you’re in a classroom or preschool and need thirty tree outlines in a hurry!
You can print this template on to paper or cardstock but I would recommend using cardstock for any craft where your child is likely to use a lot of paint or glue so that it doesn’t get flimsy or tear.
Christmas Tree Craft ideas
Scrunched Paper Trees – Print this template onto green card and use it to make our tissue paper Christmas trees. You could put some string on the back and use these as kid made decorations too if you like.
Coloring – Sometimes the most simple ideas are the best! Use this printable as Christmas tree coloring pages, print onto white paper, grab your markers or crayons and let your child go wild creating their own design.
Cotton bud lights – Use a cotton bud (Q-tip) dipped in paint to make Christmas lights on your tree – similar to this fine motor skills Christmas tree craft.
Playdough – Print out the tree onto green paper and then seal it in a self laminating sheet. You can now use it as a playdough mat, making baubles or tinsel out of playdough to decorate it with.
Pom poms – Decorate the tree with red, green and white pom poms.
Fingerprint painting – Use fingerprints to decorate the tree, these could be ornaments or use a thin marker pen to join the fingerprints together so they look like a string of Christmas lights.
This template is free for for personal or school use only. You can print as many copies as you like but you may not edit or sell the PDF.
