Build a Cauldron Craft
This cauldron craft for kids has to be one of my favorite Halloween activities that we’ve shared. I love that not only is it an interactive craft but also just the amount of spell ingredients that we’ve got for kids to choose from so that they can create their own unique potion.
Like all of our cut and paste crafts, this cauldron craft is a great way for kids to practice their coloring and scissor skills and the bonus spell recipe page means that if you want to you can also use this as a literacy activity with some creative writing.
You can also print as many copies as you like so it’s perfect if you want to make this craft as a classroom activity or if you just want to do something creative and fun for Halloween at home.

What’s In Your Cauldron Craft Printable
Our build a cauldron craft printable is a four page PDF with everything in black and white so it’s easy to print and can be colored in by kids.
The first two pages contain the parts you’ll need to make your paper cauldron while the third page contains your spell ingredients. You’ll find a frog, eyeball, spider, pumpkin, toenails, poisonous berries, snail, newt, skull, fly, fishbones, feather, candy corn, bone, slime, blood, pig’s tail, poisonous toadstool, spider’s web, monster horn, bat’s wing, secret potion, beetle, slug and crow’s wing. There’s a lot of spooky ingredients to choose from!
On the fourth page you’ll find our bonus make a spell printable, perfect for if you’d like to extend this activity with some creative writing.
Craft Supplies Needed
- Build a cauldron printable
- White paper or cardstock
- Printer
- Scissors
- Glue
- Colored pencils, markers or crayons
How To Make Your Cut and Paste Cauldron Craft
Start by printing the cauldron craft printable. I’ve used normal white paper for my craft but if you’d like to create something a little more durable then I’d recommend using thicker paper or cardstock instead.
Color in all the parts of your cauldron on the first two pages and your magic spell ingredients on the third page.
Use scissors to cut all the pieces out including the inner area of the cauldron. You’ll find a dotted line around each item to help guide you.
Add glue around the outer edge of the back part of the cauldron as shown on the printable and then stick the front part of the cauldron onto this so that it forms a pocket.
Glue the legs and the handles to the back of the cauldron so that they stick out.
Write your spell’s name and power onto the small spell sheet and glue that, the cauldron decorations and potion bubbles onto your cauldron.
Put your stirring stick into the pocket in the middle of your cauldron as well as any of your spell ingredients that you’d like to add.

Equipment
- Build a cauldron printable
- White paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Coloring pencils, colored markers or crayons
Instructions
- Print the build a cauldron printable onto white paper or cardstock.
- Color in the parts of the cauldron and spell ingredients.
- Cut out all of the cauldron parts, the inner area of the cauldron and the spell ingredients.
- Glue the front and back parts of the cauldron together, creating a pocket in the middle.
- Glue the handles and legs to the back of the caudron.
- Stick the decorations, spell page and potion bubbles to the front of the caudron.
- Place the stirring stick and spell ingredients inside the cauldron.
