I’ve been wanting to make some clay heart ornaments with my son for ages so when we had a miserable grey day the other week I took this as my opportunity to make some! These would make great Valentines Day or Christmas ornaments or are just nice to have around the house because, hey, you all love each other!

Air drying clay (we used this
Heart shaped cookie cutter
Red glitter
Pencil
Paintbrush
Bakers twine
How to make your clay heart ornaments:
Firstly we rolled out the clay together until it was a few millimeters thick. We used air drying clay as I know from experience that kids can get bored if there are too many processes so buying the clay meant I didn’t have to worry about it not getting finished!
My son pushed the heart shaped cookie cutter into the clay and with a bit of help we then took all the heart shapes out. The edges can look a bit raw so you might want to smooth these out with your fingers. Using your pencil make a little hole at the top that you can tie your bakes twine through later.
We then spread Mod Podge over the hearts where we wanted our glitter to go and added a lot of red glitter on top of these. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s that kids will always add ALL the glitter!
The ornaments took a day or so to dry and then I added an additional layer of Mod Podge
