Simple and Sweet Valentines Tree Crafts

17th January 2023 by Kate Williams |

I’m not quite sure where the trend for Valentines tree crafts came from but one thing I do know is that they’re super cute and we’re always to go with any reason to make something cheerful and pretty!

These Valentines crafts are super easy and use a template for the tree which means that you can make them with kids of all ages.

Young kids can make these simple Valentines crafts using basic stamps while older kids will also enjoy making these as a cute craft to pop on the wall or in a frame for some simple Valentine’s decor.

Free Valentines Tree Craft Template

All the Valentines Day tree crafts that I’m sharing today are made using our free tree template, make sure you grab it and print a few off so you can make a few different crafts!

Want more free Valentines printables? Why not grab our cute bunny Valentine which is perfect for kids to colour in or one of our free printable Valentines cards to colour.

In this post I’m sharing three ideas for Valentines tree crafts that we’ve made using this template as well as some more ideas you might like to try out, plus keep reading for more simple Valentines Day crafts you can make with your kids.

What Craft Supplies Do I Need For My Valentine Tree Craft?

I’ve shared a few craft ideas today so that you can choose the ideas which are easiest depending on what materials you have at home.

For printing out your treee trunk template though I would really recommend using cardstock rather than printer paper if possible as this can become saturated if you are using a lot of paint or glue.

Handprint Valentines Tree

If you don’t want to use a template and fancy getting a bit more hands on then an alternative is to make a handprint heart tree craft.

Instead of our tree trunk either draw around your child’s hand and arm onto a piece of white paper or if you don’t mind getting messy you can paint their hand and the start of their arm brown and print these onto paper to get your tree shape, this would make a cute keepsake too.

Cardboard Tube Heart Tree Craft

I don’t know who came up with the idea of putting a fold into a cardboard tube to make a heart shape – it seems to be all over Pinterest but it’s just as likely to be someone running a playgroup somewhere – but either way it is genius idea.

This could be a simple heart craft for toddlers to do but preschoolers and older kids can obviously make it too.

I love it when we can do crafts without having to buy new materials and anything that can be found in the recycling bin is perfect in my eyes.

To make it easier to stamp your heart pattern onto your Valentines tree make sure that you first pour your paint onto a plate or tray. I’ve used pink and purple but red would be great to use too (or whatever colour your kids really love!)

Paper Hearts Valentines Tree

Use a heart shaped paper punch to make the little hearts for this craft, while you could cut them out using scissors if you’re making small heart shapes this would take ages, the heart punch is a great way to speed things up.

I’ve used scrap colored printer paper for this craft but colored construction paper would work really well too. Look for pinks, reds and purples.

Use some glue on your tree’s branches and then add your paper hearts. Toddlers and preschoolers can sprinkle them on while older children will probably be a bit more precise.

This is a good one to talk about colours while you are making it – which is your child’s favourite?

Pom Pom Painted Valentines Tree

So this one isn’t a heart tree but the colours look great so I still had to share it!

Painting with pom poms is a great alternative to a paintbrush and it’s a really nice alternative for kids who don’t like the feel of finger paints. As before just pop your paint onto a plate or tray before you get started.

If your child doesn’t like holding the pom pom itself you could use a clothes peg to grip hold of it.

More Ideas for Valentines Tree Crafts

  • If you don’t fancy doing anything too messy then some heart shaped stickers would be great for decorating your tree.
  • Or for something similar but bigger than normal stickers you could decorate with some heart shaped post it notes.
  • Heart shaped cookie cutters would be great for doing some printing with too.
  • Paint your child’s hands red or pink for making handprints all over the tree’s branches.

Easy Valentines Day Crafts for Kids

This easy mosaic heart craft is a fun way to practice scissor skills too.

For another fun printing craft why not try out these foil printed hearts which my daughter loved making.

Finally this recycled CD Valentines Day craft is a fun Valentines Day activity for younger kids and is another good way to get a second use out of things you don’t need or want anymore.
