Witches Cauldron Craft

We love Halloween crafts and while we’ve made a few witch themed ones in the past I’ve never made a specific cauldron craft so our new template seemed like the perfect excuse to give it a try.

Making bubble paint is really easy, but if you haven’t made it before then I’ll be sharing a very basic recipe below, don’t worry, you really don’t need to measure things too perfectly for this one.

Obviously as you’ll be blowing into the paint to make this craft you need to make sure that you are confident that your child will be happy to blow bubbles through the straw and now try and drink it. If in doubt why not check out one of our other easy Halloween crafts that I’ve shared on this post instead.

Free Witch’s Cauldron Template

You can of course draw a cauldron yourself for this craft but if you don’t fancy that or if you are doing this with a group and need multiple copies then make sure that you grab our printable cauldron template.

It’s free to download, you can print as many copies as you like and you’ll also find lots more ideas for witches cauldron crafts for kids that you can make with this design too.

How To Make Bubble Paint

In a cup or bowl add a squeeze of washing up liquid and a bigger squeeze of kids liquid paint.

I have never measured this out but if I had to guess I’d say it was about a tablespoon of washing up liquid and two tablespoons of paint.

Add some water, I do this until the cup is about two thirds full. The higher your paint to water ratio is the stronger the color of your bubble paint will be, however you don’t want too much paint or you’ll just be blowing into a cup full of paint and that’s not likely to end nicely!

Mix the paint, water and washing up liquid together using a spoon or your straw.

Bubble Painted Witch’s Cauldron

Print your cauldron template onto plain white paper and color in your cauldron. I’ve used a black marker for this but if you want to go a less traditional route then go for it. I’m sure a blue, purple or pink cauldron would look just as fantastic.

Make sure that the surface you are making your cauldron craft on is well covered. In the even that your bubbles go over the sides of your cup you don’t want to get it on your table.

Pop a straw into the cup containing your bubble paint and blow bubbles until they are over the rim of the mug.

Carefully place your cauldron picture face down onto your paint bubbles so that they are positioned to be at the top of the cauldron.

You can repeat this as many times as you like to create more bubbles on your picture and you can use different colors for your bubble painting too. I’ve gone with blue and green as that’s what we had at home but orange or red would look great too.

More Halloween Crafts for Kids

Our pumpkin suncatcher is one of our most popular Halloween crafts for kids and it’s one that I made with my son when he was a preschooler so I know it’s suitable for younger kids to create.

As well as making some cute Halloween decor it’s a fun way to help teach your child about color mixing too.

I love this super simple resist art ghost craft and you can make it using another of our free printable templates.

Of course if you’re making a witch’s cauldron then the ideal craft to make alongside it would be the witch herself! This paper bag witch is super easy to make and doubles up as a puppet that kids can play with too.
