Moon Craft Ideas
Coloring
There are two ways that you could choose to color in your moon template. Firstly you can look for grey and silver colors and get drawing those craters.
Secondly instead of coloring the moon image itself you can add a background to it, using your colored markers or coloring pencils to color in stars, a night sky and maybe even a little rocket shooting past!
Pom Pom Painting
We made this paper plate moon craft using pom pom painting and it’s a simple technique that would work really well on this template too.
Stencil Art
These printable templates are perfect for helping you to create some stencil or resist art. Make your moon stencil by printing out the crescent moon shapes and then cutting out the centre of it.
Carefully place your cut out stencil onto some black paper or cardstock, you might want to hold it in place with some washi tape or blue tac.
Paint the inside of your stencil using white or gray paint. You could use a toothbrush or pom pom dipped in paint to add a bit of texture. Once the paint is dry remove the stencil to see your finished art.
Foil
Foil is a great way to paint with kids as you can scrunch it up until it’s the right size for them to use and it creates a really good textured result too.
All you need to do is pour a little paint onto a plate or tray and dab your foil ball in it before dabbing it onto your moon template to color it in.
This works really well with a couple of different colored paints too to help create different shades.
