Shark Template
I’m a big believer that if you want your kids to do arts and crafts then you need to go with subjects that are interesting to them and sharks are definitely a popular topic in our home!
Whether you’re interested in these fascinating creatures due to Shark Week or it feels like Shark Week all year round in your house they’re a great topic to look at one that fits in with so many others too such as ocean themes and – eek – maybe even a beach theme!
When our schools were closed one of the activities we did at home that both my kids enjoyed was to use chalk and a tape measure to measure out the size of different sharks outside our home.
If you are doing a bit of a shark topic with your children then this might be an activity that you want to try too.
This free template is perfect for an easy to set up activity. I personally think sharks are pretty hard to draw yourself so make things easier with this printable!
If you like this template but you’re not ready to print it quite yet or you want to make sure you have it to hand for another day then make sure that you bookmark this page or pin an image for later.
Shark Craft Ideas
Coloring
This shark craft template makes a great colouring page and it’s perfect if you need a quiet time activity or something that you can prepare super quickly.
All you need to do is print out the template onto white paper and grab some colored markers, coloring pencils or crayons and you’re ready to get started.
Mosaic
For a simple but fun shark craft grab scrap paper, old magazines or construction paper and cut out shapes then grab your glue sticks to stick these onto your template and color in your shark.
Greys are perfect for this craft but why not add some blues, purples or black too?
Mosaic crafts like this one are also a great way to practice fine motor skills and using scissors or you can chat about the shapes that you are cutting out.
If you like you can use a black marker afterwards to add the shark’s eye or the outlines of their fins.
Cotton Bud Painting
Cotton buds (also known a Q-Tips) are a really good way for painting things without resorting to a normal paintbrush.
You can check out our cotton bud painted shark craft here to see this technique in action using this template.
Collage
Collages are a great way to use up any scrap materials that you have at home and I really believe that hunting through what you already have and finding different ways to use it can be a great way to encourage creativity too.
Gray construction paper may be great for the shark’s body but how about blue tissue paper for the background or scrunched paper for seaweed for a bit of texture. You could even glue on some sand at the bottom of the picture for the ocean floor!
