Step into spring with this free printable watering can template that’s perfect for kids crafts, coloring and painting.
Like most parents I like to try and encourage my kids interest in the natural world but there are definitely days when digging our hands into soil isn’t the right option for us.
This watering pail template has two different designs and you can print as many copies as you like, making it perfect for use in classrooms and preschools too.
We think it would be a great addition to a spring themed bulletin board!

Watering Can Craft Template
Watering can crafts and activities are a great way to make that link between doing crafts and getting outside into nature and they’re ideal for spring crafts in particular.
You’ll find two templates in the PDF file that you can download. One is a basic watering can outline while the other has a little more details to the top and bottom of the pail as well as to the spout.
Watering Can Craft Ideas
Coloring
Coloring is and will always be my first and most easy recommendation. It’s quick to prepare and normally enjoyed by kids without it making a big mess.
Grab some crayons, coloring pencils or markers to color in your watering can template or you can add your own designs to it, how about adding flowers, butterflies or even a drawing of your own yard.
Mosaic
I love making mosaic crafts as they tick so many boxes!
Firstly they’re a great way to use up any spare craft materials you have lying around such as colored paper or card stock but they can also be a great excuse to check you recycling pile for things that you can use – think old magazines and comics.
You could even turn this into more of a collage by using things like corrugated card, yarn or aluminium foil.
Secondly there’s so many skills that you can use on the sly with this! Mosaics are great for practicing scissor skills plus sticking down small items can help with fine motor skills.
Add Some Flowers
Why not try adding some flowers to the top of your watering can? You could use flower stickers or try out some fun flower crafts.
More Gardening Themed Craft Templates
I regularly share free templates for kids crafts because they’re such a great way to keep kids entertained.
You can use them as coloring sheets or painting templates if you want to be able to set up an activity super quickly or if you don’t mind checking for a few more materials then they’re a fantastic way to try out a new craft technique or inspire some ideas at home.
These are some of the templates we have that are inspired by gardening and getting outdoors, although you won’t be surprised to learn that we have a lot more on this theme if you’re ready to make your own garden or papercrafts at home or for your bulletin board in a classroom!
We’ve also got a great outdoor scavenger hunt that you can print and color if you want to encourage your child to get outside and see all these gorgeous things themselves.
Our tulip template is one that I love for springtime.
