Easy Thankful Turkey Craft For Kids

With all the preparations for Thanksgiving taking place during November it can be difficult to find moments of calm. After all with all the dinner preparations as well as all the normal hectic family life it can be hard to find those moments of peace!

This thankful turkey craft is designed to help you find a moment of calm with your child as you create this cut out turkey and think of the things that you’re grateful for. Why not make one yourself too!

You might be thankful for parents, teachers, your dog, chocolate, pumpkin pie… the list is endless and I’m sure you can think of lots of things that you’re grateful for over the Thanksgiving holiday.

This printable resource is an update on our turkey craft printable as lots of people said that they were using it for thankful crafts.

Thankful turkey PDF
White printer paper or cardstock
Scissors
Glue
Coloring pencils or crayons
Black marker pen

How To Make Your Thankful Turkey for Thanksgiving

Start by printing the PDF file onto white cardstock or printer paper. You can print as many copies of this activity as you like so it’s great for using in preschools and classrooms as well as at home.

Color in all of the parts of the turkey, you only need to color in the ‘Thank You’ heart if you intend to use this.

Normally for kids crafts I’d recommend using colored markers in order to get bright popping colors but with this craft you’re going to want to be able to see your writing on it.

My son helped create this craft and for it he used coloring pencils so that the turkey would still be nice and bright but that we’d be able to see the writing later.

Once your turkey is all colored in cut out the main body and feathers using scissors. You’ll find a dotted line around each part to help guide you.

To make your turkey turn over it’s main body and then glue each of the feathers onto its back, spreading them out so that they can all be seen from the front.

Turn your turkey back round to the correct way and then it’s time to grab your black marker and think of some things that you are thankful for, add one thing to each of the turkey’s feathers.

If you are making this craft with younger children then you could always use it as an opportunity to talk about gratitude with them and then write the words onto the turkey feathers for them.
