Printable Candy Cane Craft For Kids
As a mom I am very aware of how expensive Christmas is which is why I’ve made sure that we share loads of free Christmas printables to make sure that you can have loads of festive fun with your kids during the holiday season without having to spend loads of money.
I love this candy cane craft because it’s nice and easy to make so there’s less chance of your kids getting frustrated over those Pinterest perfect activities that are impossible to recreate (we’ve very much been there) and because if you want to you could also use this to make a really simple Christmas decoration.
We’ve previously had mini Christmas trees in our kid’s rooms filled with the crafts they’ve made and all you’d need to do with our candy cane is just add some ribbon to the back so you can hang it up.
It’s also great as a festive classroom activity or for using in preschools. You can print as many copies as you like and it’s a great way for kids to practice their coloring and using scissors.
All you need to do is decide what colors you’re going to use!
What You’ll Need
- Printable candy cane craft PDF
- White paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Crayons, coloring pencils or markers
How To Make Your Printable Candy Cane Craft
Print your candy cane template on to white paper or cardstock. If you are doing this as a classroom activity then normal printer paper is absolutely fine (and is what I’ve used) but if you want to make this a little more durable particularly if you want to use this as a Christmas decoration then I’d opt for cardstock.
Next it’s time to color in your candy cane. You can either color the cane itself red and leave the stripes white or do it the other way round and leave the cane shape white and color the stripes red.
Color in the parts of the bow and the swirls and wrapper ties for your candy swirl sweet.
Using scissors cut each part out following the dotted line around each part.
To make your candy swirl sweet glue each of the swirl shapes onto the circular candy and then stick the wrapper ties to the back of this so that they stick out on each side.
To build your candy cane craft glue the stripes along the main part of the candy cane.
Trim the edges of your candy cane to give it a neat finish.
To make the bow stick the bow tails on to the back of the main part of the bow so that they hang down and then glue the bow centre onto the middle of it.
Glue your completed bow onto your candy cane to finish your craft.
If you would like to turn your candy canes into ornaments then use tape to stick a loop of ribbon onto the back of your candy cane.

Instructions
- Print the candy cane craft template onto white paper or cardstock.
- Color in the parts of the printable.
- Cut out each piece following the dotted lines around them.
- Make the candy swirl by gluing the swirl shapes onto the circular candy and then sticking the wrapper ties to the back.
- Stick the stripes along the candy cane outline and then use scissors to trim any excess.
- Glue the parts of the paper bow together and then glue this onto your candy cane.
