Summer’s nearly here which means it’s time to kick back, relax, have fun and get creative with this free printable palm tree template!
I love palm trees, I think they’re just a reminder of sunny days and fun holidays that we’ve had together as a family so for me they’re a great choice for making some kids crafts.
You’ll find two different designs available in the PDF file, so that you can choose the one that’s right for your project and of course you can print as many copies as you like making them ideal for school, preschool and Sunday school’s as well as for use at home.
What You'll Find on This Page
Palm Tree Template
This cute palm tree printable is perfect for creating summer crafts. You can use it as a coloring sheet or stencil, try out some of our craft projects or it would look great colored, cut out and added to a themed bulletin board.
Maybe you could add what books you’d take to a desert island or use it as a literacy prompt to imagine being shipwrecked!
Grab the PDF file and you’ll find two free printable templates, all you need to do is choose your favorite for the project you would like to try.
The first template is a basic outline of a palm tree with leaves, coconuts and a tree trunk while the second template also has some sand underneath it. And yes, coconut trees are a type of palm tree – I checked!
If you are planning on trying out an activity with this palm tree that uses a lot of paint or glue then I’d recommend that you go for card stock rather than printer paper, it holds the weight and moisture much better without it becoming so saturated.
Free Beach Printables
I’ve shared tons of free templates and printables on this site because as a mom myself I know how quickly spending on craft supplies can add up when you’re trying to do something creative or fun with your kids!
All of our resources are free to download and with each craft template you’ll also find ideas on ways that you can use them at home or in your classroom, preschool or kindergarten.
I think beach balls are synonymous with trips to the beach and their bright colors make them a great choice for kids. Grab our free beach ball template and see how your kids would decorate theirs.
I love this shell template that has a really simple and basic outline that lends itself perfectly to kids crafts. Need some inspo for using it? You’ll find ideas in the post but I really love this seashell suncatcher that we made.
We love scavenger hunts as they’re such and easy and fun way to keep kids busy. With pictures to color as well as the words themselves this beach scavenger hunt is great for all ages, you could even have a go at completing it as a family.
Not going to the beach right now? You could use this while looking through a fiction or factual book about the seaside and see how many items you can find in that.
Palm Tree Craft Ideas
Coloring
You’ll always find coloring in my activity recommendations because it’s something that’s so often popular with kids but it’s also an activity that’s really quick and easy for parents or teachers to set up. That has to be a win!
All you need to do is print out your template and then grab your favorite markers, crayons or coloring pencils and you can get started. You could even add some birds, the sun or yourself chilling out under the palm tree’s leaves.
Collage
Collages are a great art project to make with kids because they’ll really inspire some creativity in you, once you start looking for craft materials and embellishments you’ll be looking at everything around you wondering how you could use it.
Spread some glue onto your palm tree and add materials to color it in. Leaves and tree bark would be great for a nature inspired version but if you want to go through your craft materials or recycling bin look for colored construction paper, torn paper rolls, pom poms, fabric scraps… the list goes on and on!
Sponge Painting
I really like trying out alternatives to using a paintbrush with my kids as it helps make activities a bit more interesting and there’s normally so many things in your home that you can try.
Plus changing your painting material will normally give you a good bit of texture to your picture rather than the normal brush strokes.
Sponge painting is great as you can cut sponges to the shape and size you want. If your child doesn’t like getting paint on their fingers or hands then why not try holding a piece of sponge in a clothes peg before you dip it into the paint.
