This free printable kite template is perfect for making some easy crafts with your child or you can use it as a simple coloring sheet too.
Kites are such a recognisable symbol for all of us and playing with kites is something that I think all of us do at least once during our childhood.
Kite crafts are a great way to encourage creativity too as kids can create their own designs and use their favorite colors to create something that’s unique.

In this PDF pack you’ll find two different designs that you can download. the first is the more basic outline. This one is perfect for adding your own creative ideas to.
The second design is the one with bows on the tail of the kite, this one is perfect for coloring or if you’d like a little more guidance.
Whatever craft or activity you’d like to do just print the template you want, of course you can print as many copies as you need as well so it’s perfect if you’re planning on making a lot of crafts at home or if you need copies for everyone in your classroom at school or pre-k.
Kite Craft Ideas
Coloring – grab your markers, crayons, coloring pencils, pastels or paints and get creative making a colorful design on your kite using all your favorite colors.
Create a bow – using the more basic kite shape grab some materials to add your own decorations for the kite tail. You could use yarn, wool, paper, ribbon or scrap material and then glue these into place.
Mosaic – Practice using scissors and cut out shapes to glue onto your template. This is a great way to use up any scrap paper you have too.
Stickers – This is a great way for toddlers and preschoolers who are too young to use scissors to add a bit of creativity and it’s great for fine motor skills too. If you have any themed stickers as well then it could be fun to theme it for their favorite cartoon, animal or why not give it a beach theme?
Make a suncatcher – I really like suncatcher crafts as they’re a good one for kids to display afterwards. Grown ups will need to cut out the outline of the kite shape for kids but children can add tissue paper or cellophane to make the colored parts. If you haven’t made one before then check out the instructions for our pumpkin suncatcher which also has a video tutorial to help.
