Virtual playdates are a great idea for kids who can’t see each other but want to still stay in touch, in fact as I write this both my kids are currently sat playing with friends online!

Whether your kids are unable to see other children face to face due to school closures or because they live far apart it’s a great way to stay in touch. Not being able to have normal hands on play though can be a bit tricky at first so these virtual playdate ideas for Zoom are a great way to start your kids off having fun together online.

Staying at home can be a bit lonely for everyone and it’s great for kids to be able to still have fun with their friends. My kids have really enjoyed seeing their friends using Houseparty and this Houseparty scavenger hunt is a great way for them to have fun online together and keep active.

Of course if you’re not stuck indoors then this printable is just a great way to keep in touch with people, our family don’t live locally so activities like this are something that we like to help stay connected with people we can’t visit easily. We also have lots of scavenger hunt ideas that we use on our own or as an excuse to get the kids outside too!

Being at home can be hard on kids who are used to socialising every day with their friends at school or with their wider family members so where we can we’ve tried to make sure that our kids can see their friends and family online. It’s great to find some games kids can play on zoom (or Skype, Facetime or Houseparty, whatever works for you) as having a conversation with someone online that you can’t actually physically play with can be a little awkward. Also our usual ‘what have you guys been up to’ isn’t really cutting the mustard these days. We’ve been at home, everyone’s been at home. With that in mind I thought I’d share our favourite games that kids can play online with each other or with family members such as Grandparents.

As we don’t live near any of our family we’ve kept in contact via Skype or Whatsapp for quite a while but over the last couple of weeks we’ve been trying out different platforms and right now Zoom is our favourite. I wanted a game that my kids could play with their cousins online and a zoom scavenger hunt for kids seemed like the perfect idea.
