As a kid I really enjoyed watching the nutcracker ballet, it’s a total classic with Clara, the mouse king and the dance of the sugar plum fairy. I love as well that the more recent Disney adaptation has helped to keep it relevant for children now.
If you wanted to use your finished craft as an ornament to hang on a Christmas tree then just attach a loop or ribbon to the back of it using tape.
If you’re making this with a group of kids where the ages or abilities are mixed then you might also want to look at our nutcracker template – this has four different designs that kids can color or decorate without needed to use scissors so it’s a great option for younger children or our split pin nutcracker craft.

Start by printing your PDF onto white paper or cardstock. Using either is fine, cardstock will make your nutcracker craft a little more durable however printer paper is a little easier to cut.
Next color in all the parts of your nutcracker including his drum and drumsticks and then cut all the separate pieces out using your scissors.
Glue the nutcracker’s head on top of his body and then glue his hat on top of that. Stick his arms onto the sides of his body.
Turn the body of your nutcracker over and then glue the legs onto the back of his body.
Fold the top of your drum over and put this over the nutcrackers shoulders before sticking it down at the back of his body.
Stick the drumsticks to the back of your nutcracker’s hands and your craft is finished.
