Turtle Template

Turtles are a really popular subject in schools and kindergarten so I hope that these new printables will help you to get creative with your kids no matter if that’s at home or in a classroom.

Download the PDF file and you’ll find three different images that you can use, the first is a very basic turtle outline which is perfect for adding your own ideas to. Grab the paints, glue and  your craft supplies and you’re ready to go. If you’re using a lot of glue or paint then you might find it helpful to print onto cardstock rather than paper so that it doesn’t become over saturated.

The next sea turtle template has a little more detail with eyes on the turtle’s head and an outline for its shell while the third turtle craft template has even more details on the turtle’s shell.

If you like this template but would like something for slightly older kids then why not check out our build a turtle craft which is also free to download and is a great way for kids to practice their scissor skills.

Turtle Craft Ideas

Turtle Coloring Page

Coloring is a great quiet time activity and these printables make fantastic turtle coloring sheets.

All you need to do is print out your favorite design and grab some coloring pencils, markers or crayons and you’re ready to go.

Torn Paper Turtle Craft

Tearing paper is a really easy craft and it’s one that’s often popular with kids because they feel like it’s a bit destructive! It’s also an activity that’s popular with parents and teachers as it’s a great way to support fine motor skills too.

Look for colored paper or construction paper and tear it into pieces before gluing it onto the turtle’s shell.

Tissue Paper Turtle Craft

Tissue paper is a great material to use and it can be a good way for younger kids such as preschoolers to practice scissor skills too.

Cut your colored tissue paper into shapes and then glue them onto your turtle outline.

If you are doing this activity with toddlers and don’t want them using scissors then you can either buy pre-cut tissue paper squares or you can cut them out for them and leave it to your child to glue them on.

Turtle Suncatcher

We love making suncatchers and they’re a fun craft to help brighten up a room as well. To make a turtle suncatcher follow the step-by-step instructions for our shell suncatcher but obviously change using the shell template to your turtle one.

Green and blue craft materials would be great for the background of this one.

Paper Plate Turtle

We’ve made a turtle paper plate craft before where the paper plate looked like a turtle but why not try making it another way with our template?

Start by painting a background onto your paper plate, you could just go for blue paint but if you fancy an alternative to using a paintbrush then why not try painting it with bubble wrap or kitchen foil dipped in paint?

While this is drying color in your turtle and then cut it out using scissors.

Once your paper plate is dry you can glue the cut out turtle onto it.

More Free Ocean Animal Templates

I love sharing free printable craft templates as they’re such an easy way to help you get creative with your kids.

You can use them all as coloring sheets but with each template I also share idea for craft and art projects that you can try out.

We have lots of ocean themed templates but these are some of my favourite sea creatures that you might like to make alongside your turtle, these would be great for an ocean themed bulletin board too!

Dolphins are such a popular animal with kids and our free dolphin template is perfect for crafting with.

I love this cute jellyfish template! There are three different designs and so many different things that you can make with it.

This fish template is one of our most basic outlines and I love it for that too, we’ve used this as a stencil to make some fun resist art that’s a great painting technique to try out too.

How do you print this out so the body is 8 X 10? When I printed it out the body is only 4.25 X 5.

Hi Kathy, it sounds like it might be a printer issue? Double check that you have it set to print full page and hopefully that will fix it 🙂

Hi Shirley – I’ve tried sending you the template but it comes up that this email address doesn’t exist? If you pop me a message with a different email address I’ll send it over to you x
