Holly Template
By the time December starts we’re ready to start all the Christmas activities and this holly template with it’s large basic outline lends itself perfectly to crafting with a nice big space that toddlers and preschoolers will be able to decorate.
Holly is great as it’s a really recognisable shape and while it’s an evergreen plant it’s definitely one that we associate more with the festive season.
I’m suggesting some different Christmas projects that you could try using this template but I’m sure you’ll also think of lots yourself.
Holly Craft Ideas
Coloring
Coloring is such a simple and obvious suggestion but it’s also something that kids really enjoy and it’s always good to have it as a back up plan!
This printable makes a great holly coloring sheet so all you need to do is print it out onto white paper and grab your markers, coloring pencils or crayons.
Tissue Paper
Use colored tissue paper in two different ways to decorate your holly. Cover the holly leaves in glue and stick pieces of green tissue paper onto them.
Then cover the holly berries in glue and take some red tissue paper, scrunching it onto a ball shapes before sticking it down.
Mosaic
Grab your scissors and any red and green paper and use this template to make a mosaic. Simply cut your paper into shapes and then glue it onto your holly leaves and berries.
Scrap paper is great for this, why not try using a mixture of colored paper, cardstock, old magazines and left over wrapping paper.
Resist Art
Because Holly is such a easily recognisable shape I think it would be a really good one to use in making some resist art.
Just print our your template and cut out the holly leaves then tape them carefully onto green cardstock or paper before painting all around the holly leaf outline.
Not tried resist art before? You can check out our snowman art to see how it’s done with both written instructions and a quick video tutorial.
