Paper Corn Craft

Updated on 4th November 2021 by Kate Williams | Leave a Comment

This simple paper corn craft is easy to make and it’s a great way of using up scrap paper too.

Corn crafts are great for lots of topics and celebrations – autumn, harvest, healthy eating and Thanksgiving are all ones which this would fit in nicely with.

This craft uses our free corn template too meaning that it’s easy for you to prepare at home or for you to print a few copies if you are doing this activity with a group.

  • Hole Punch Paper Corn Craft

Corn Craft

This corn craft uses a hole punch to make the corn itself, ensuring that you have lots of little circles to stick on.

Whether you need to do the hole punching yourself or if it’s something your child can do themselves or with a little help is of course down to your child’s age and even the hole punch that you happen to own – I know some are harder to use than others!

It’s definitely one though where you can look for the coloured paper together and try and find the right shades and of course there’s colouring and sticking to be done as well.

More Autumn Themed Crafts

These crafts would all fit nicely into an autumn theme and possibly a harvest one too. They’re also all made using our free templates.

This paper plate scarecrow craft uses colouring, cutting and gluing to make a simple farm scene.

Apple stamping is pretty much a classic craft and we’ve used it to make this simple apple painting craft.

Have you tried making resist art? we’ve put an autumnal spin on it with this squirrel craft that uses autumnal colours too.

Free Corn Template

If you want to draw the corn yourself then you are of course more than welcome to but I find using a template for kids crafts to be a great way for helping me to prepare activities for my kids.

Our printable PDF corn template has two different designs including the one I’ve used here so you can chose which one you prefer.

Corn Craft Materials

  • Corn Template (see above)
  • Coloured or scrap paper
  • Hole punch
  • Green marker pen
  • Glue
  • Tray (optional)

Hole Punch Paper Corn Craft

Start by printing out your corn template.

Colour in the leaves of your corn green. I’ve used a colouring pen for this but you could also use crayons or colouring pencils if you prefer.

From your coloured paper use your hole punch to cut out circle shapes. This is good if you have scrap paper that you want to use up and you could use different shades of yellow as well as some oranges or whites if you like. You could also use old magazines or comics and look for yellow bits in them to cut out.

If possible, I would recommend popping all of your cut out circles into a small bowl or similar if you are having a gap between cutting them out and gluing so there is less chance of them getting spilt anywhere. I’d also recommend doing this craft on a tray so that any excess circles don’t go all over your table or floor.

Once you have all your circles, cover the main part of your corn with glue and then stick on your yellow dots. The circles from hole punches tend to be quite small so this is more of a sprinkling job than placing them on super carefully.

Once all your circles have been sprinkled on you could try giving your template a gentle shake to see if any excess fall off and if so popping these back onto the main part of your craft.
